.@ChmnMendelson did some great things but the work isn’t done! We need new recurring revenue for over 500 households facing loss of housing at the end of Dec, alliance health participants who lost care, lost COLAs for the poorest families, and so much more waiting for restoration
Budget day is here! The first of two council votes is set for today. The early vibe I've gotten around the Wilson Building is to NOT expect Nadeau's wealth tax amendment to move today: seems like the votes aren't yet there. But it could still come up at the second vote.

Before the first budget vote tomorrow, tell your DC Councilmembers that it is time for a wealth proceeds tax. We need to act now to raise revenue, protect essential services, and make DC’s tax system fairer for everyone. ✉️: actionnetwork.org/letters/dc…

Ahead of the D.C. Council's first vote on the budget next week, homeless services got some good news: proposed cuts to day centers and youth and domestic violence services were reversed. But there's still a $27 million hole in the voucher budget. bit.ly/4dRIEl6

Long overdue that DC taxes its highly concentrated wealth with a 3% Wealth Proceeds Tax. No more "We don't have the resources to fund our safety net" "We can't help communities make ends meet in hard times" "Slash essential programs" Let your Councilmember know you support this

Where are the other clergy? Where? But another crusader is Rev. Barber (Poor People Campaign and Moral Mondays).
Who is one of the nation’s biggest opponents of the Big, Beautiful Bill? Pope Leo and the Catholic Church. Twenty bishops called President Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and food stamps “an affront to the dignity of human life.”

As the D.C. Council finalizes the city's budget, homeless service advocates are demanding it reverse cuts to day centers, vouchers, and the social safety net. One way advocates suggest to fund the programs? A wealth tax. bit.ly/4fdyU5L
