I've said before, you need 3 things for a successful postdoctoral fellowship. 1. A mentor who cares about your success. 2. An interesting project you can start your career on. 3. The resources to do a thorough job on that project.

Mentorship is not just about showing how to do science, but how to do it while being inclusive and respectful of others.
Mentors should lead by examples so that mentees may learn the many ways to be generous, especially to junior colleagues. We all benefit by elevating others.
