Why calculate a urine anion gap? This never clicked for me until @NSMCInternship explained it’s a way to detect urine ammonium. Thanks to @Nephro_Sparks & Dr. Sarah Street for helping me turn it into a mini-chalk talk!

Phenomenal discussion @sacjai laying out the truth about racism in medicine. Actions (not talk) on how institutions handle incidents of racism (from patients or staff/colleagues) speaks volumes. It has to come from the top. Be courageous.
If the patient is always right, what happens when they are prejudice against the provider? @sacjai, @JKT0202 and Ajay Singh had a powerful dialogue about Jain's paper "The Racist Patient" and leadership's role in confronting patient and clinician biases. buff.ly/2BQ1iuy

#askrenal Are there any US Nephrologists who have been granted a modified work schedule (telework office work) because their children will be remote learning? If yes, can you provide documentation of the plan your institution is using? DM or provide link. Many sincere thanks.

Morning report pearl: PD is a safe, effective method of at home dialysis that is underused, esp in marginalized patients--advocate for it when appropriate PD peritonitis cut offs differ from SBP cut offs, WBC> 100 w/ 50% PMN, classic abdominal pain, cloudy effluent. #medtwitter

Great thread. #UnbiasedEducationForPatients is key. @psanghiMd_Fracp @nephronDO @fitse_t @GoniKatz
Replying to @StanfordChiefs
Wonderful pearl! The current dialysis mix also does not align with what nephrologists would select for themselves if awaiting a kidney transplant
