What you need to know about the new Social Media Ban in the UK: 1. All persons under 16 are prohibited from accessing social media platforms without verified parental supervision. 2. Parental supervision must be logged digitally through the UK. gov app. 3. Parents must approve each post, comment, like, or share in real-time. 4. Failure to supervise constitutes negligent digital guardianship. 5. Penalties for negligent digital guardianship include fines up to £10,000 and potential removal of devices from the household. 6. Educational use is not exempt. 7. Mental health considerations are not exempt. 8. Checking the weather on a browser that could access social media counts as attempted access. 9. Screenshots of banned platforms are treated as contraband. 10. Discussing banned platforms in school counts as conspiracy to access. 11. Parents who express disagreement with these rules online will have their supervision privileges revoked. 12. Any family member can report violations anonymously (encouraged). Compliance is mandatory. Britain is safer for it.

It is so much easier to parade online harms victims and complain that not "enough" is being done than to analyze proposed solutions for feasibility and effectiveness. FIPR provides useful analysis - politicians and popular media should read.

Well done to @PeterKGeoghegan and Khadija Sharife for winning the @PrivateEyeNews Paul Foot Award — and revealing a conspiracy which for some time succeeded in suppressing scrutiny and defaming not just Sunday Times reporters, but those without the same resources to defend themselves including, above all, Paul Holden @StarmertheFraud. He was trashed for supplying us with bulletproof documents which posed a question which years later has still never been answered: why did the entity which made Keir Starmer leader fail to declare hundreds upon thousands of pounds when it had been told it needed to? The alacrity with which Labour ministers and MPs rightly scrutinise, for instance, Farage’s finances strangely still eludes them on this. Still some grumble about the supposed factual identity of Starmer’s adversaries — and in so doing, either inadvertently or otherwise give oxygen to many of the report’s lurid claims. Which is why fearless journalism was the only remedy. Peter and Khadija recognised that and the whole fourth estate is fortunate they did. And a final word: only a few of us know the sacrifices some people have made to bring this information into the public domain. Thank you to them — and let’s all remember that, according to Hansard, at least one source is being hounded by Apco, the appalling firm behind the report.

This is a massive proof of concept for the Mill Media titles and its journalists. Victory for press freedom in open combat against some of the most terrifying threats a publisher can face. Marking themselves out for truly great things here….
Replying to @joshi
The businessman Claudio Di Giovanni sued @_TheLondoner, @Coramazov and me. Mrs Justice Steyn has ended the £250k High Court case. She has also struck out the £10k county court Judgment against Cormac, calling it 'plainly an abuse of process'. Big win for the free press.

Some great news to announce this morn😁: The case against us has been thrown out! However, its absurdity highlights the urgent need for the govt to stop talking about it and act on long promised reforms. A waste of time and energy for everyone involved pressgazette.co.uk/news/mill…

Last year, ID photos submitted to Discord were leaked after a cyberattack. With the Online Safety Act in the UK, people submit their IDs to access ordinary legal content like X threads. Is this really a good idea? ⬇️
