Water infrastructure isn't just an engineering problem; it's an equity issue. When the systems fail occur, women and girls pay the price. They walk further. They miss school. Their futures shrink. In rural Rwanda, women check broken taps each morning to confirm if they have been repaired, only to walk miles to unsafe water sources. The pipes exist, but without investment in maintenance, they fail. This results in unreliable systems that steal time, dignity, and opportunity. In Rwanda, National Surveys indicate that around 45% of rural households report that their nearest water source as non-functional. This is what changes when we shift our approach; designing for reliability and strengthening local capacity. In one community, Stephanie now manages a consistent water point built by World Vision. She's no longer a water fetcher. She's now a community leader. That's the power of reliability. It restores hope. It gives girls back their time for education. It returns dignity to all families. BLOW THE WHISTLE! SHOW THE RED CARD! ❌ Childhood is not a workforce! ❌Child labour has no place on a child’s life. ❌A child should be carrying books not burdens A child belongs in a classroom, in a playground, in spaces where they are safe enough to learn, grow and dream, not carrying burdens that were never theirs to bear.  Yet across our region, many children continue to have their time, safety and opportunity stolen by child labour. This World Day Against Child Labour calls for fair play for children and decent work for adults. When families have stable livelihoods and stronger support systems, children are freer to stay in school and reclaim what should have been theirs all along: childhood. 👶🏽 Every child deserves more than survival. Every child deserves the chance to be a child with dignity and live life in all its fullness. #EndChildLabour #ForEveryChild #WorldVisionEARO

Children have a role to play in shaping the world around them. 👧🏽👦🏽 Here in East Africa, child participation is creating space for young people to share their ideas, raise issues that affect them and contribute to decisions that influence their lives. The East Africa Children’s Advisory Group brings this to life. Through this platform, children are speaking into programmes, engaging on key issues and helping ensure that their perspectives are reflected in actions and priorities nationally and internationally. When children are listened to, solutions reflect real experiences and lead to a stronger, more lasting impact. Because the future is stronger when children help shape it. #ChildParticipation #ChildRights #WorldVisionEARO #Children'sVoices

Stronger Voices = Stronger Climate Action! 🌍 Sustainable climate action requires accountability. Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action goes beyond restoring land and improving livelihoods. It is also about ensuring that communities have a voice in the decisions that shape their future. In Uganda, World Vision’s Citizen Voice and Action approach is equipping communities with the tools to identify challenges, engage leaders and advocate for better services. As communities organise, speak up and work with local systems, practical solutions begin to emerge. This is what social accountability looks like in action! Strengthening systems so that development, which is inclusive of climate action, is responsive, inclusive and sustainable. Menstrual Hygiene Day: Myths versus Reality Myth: Periods should be hidden. Reality: Periods are normal, and silence helps stigma grow. Myth: Menstrual health is a “girls’ issue.” Reality: It is a community issue, because dignity and education are everyone’s responsibility. Myth: Access is only about pads. Reality: It is also about toilets, water, privacy, information and support. Let’s choose better conversations, better facilities, and better support so girls can learn and live confidently every day. #MenstrualHygieneDay #PeriodFriendlyWorld #WASH #DignityInCare

Today is the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula. Obstetric fistula is one of the most devastating childbirth injuries, yet it is preventable and treatable when women and girls can access timely, quality maternal health care. This day is a reminder that health is a right and no woman or girl should endure avoidable suffering because services are out of reach. Ending fistula means strengthening the essentials: skilled birth attendance, access to emergency obstetric care, and full support for survivors, including dignity, reintegration, and hope. We stand with women and girls everywhere and we recommit to a future where childbirth is safe, respectful and supported for all. We stand for dignity, access and a future where safe childbirth is not determined by geography or income. #EndFistula #MaternalHealth #HerHealthHerRight #HealthEquity #WorldVision

Today, let’s talk about livelihoods, nutrition and resilience. The three realities we keep seeing across communities. Shocks are happening closer together and recovery time is shrinking. Families are adapting in creative ways but the cost can be heavy. When a household is under strain, children feel it first through food, learning, safety and wellbeing. Two things that help resilience become real; ✅ A way to protect what a family has; savings, assets and enough food. ✅ A way to rebuild what a family loses; skills, services and opportunities that last beyond one season. One question for you today, If a shock hit your community this month, what would help families bounce back faster? #Livelihoods #Resilience #WVImpact #EastAfrica #WorldVision

What are we learning about resilience? 1. Resilience is built before a crisis, not after it. The strongest recovery starts with what is already in place. 2. Community matters. When people save, plant, and problem-solve together, families can withstand more than they could alone. 3. Livelihoods are not only about income. They are about dignity, stability, and choices that protect children’s wellbeing. 4. The best solutions are joined up, support that helps families meet today’s needs while building a stronger tomorrow. This is why livelihoods and resilience matter. Because hope is not a slogan. It is a household that can recover, rebuild and keep going. #Livelihoods #Resilience #WeAreWorldVision #WVImpact

A child should not have to measure life in miles to water or days without food. Somalia’s drought is becoming a quiet emergency for children. Funding has been cut by 2/3 and the response plan is only 13% funded. By mid 2026, 1.85M children could face acute malnutrition. We cannot let this be forgotten.
