This #WorldEnvironmentDay, we celebrate communities across Kenya that are restoring the land, protecting natural resources, and building a more resilient future for children. Together with communities and partners, over the past five years we have: • Planted 45 million trees • Restored 129,000 hectares of degraded land • Supported 12,500 hectares under Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) • Trained 156,000 farmers in climate-smart agriculture The journey continues as we look to impact 2,500,000 people in climate-vulnerable communities over the next five years to adapt to a changing climate.

This Sunday, @citizentvkenya features a special report #BeyondTheCut at 9:00 p.m. The feature shines a light on the continued challenge of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) within parts of our country, including among the Kuria community in Migori County, where the practice remains prevalent despite being illegal. During my recent visit to Koromangucha, Kuria East , I had the opportunity to sit down with @lillian_muli for a candid conversation on the state of FGM in Kenya, the progress made, the challenges that persist and the measures the Government is implementing to accelerate the eradication of the practice. I commend @WorldVisionKE for partnering with Government and communities in advancing efforts to end FGM.

Across Turkana County, repeated drought cycles have disrupted livelihoods and food production, leaving many households unable to consistently provide enough food for themselves and their children. Supported by the Kenya Humanitarian Fund (KHF), World Vision Kenya is implementing the Cash Assistance for Drought-Affected Families project, targeting 8,950 households across Turkana North, Turkana Central, Turkana East and Turkana South. In this first phase, each of the most vulnerable households in Turkana County will receive KSh 7,000 for three different cycles within the six-month project period, giving families the flexibility to buy food and meet their most urgent needs while protecting the well-being of their children. @UNOCHA | @OCHAFunds
