This is an outrageous statement from Senate Democrats threatening America's closest friend and ally over a US/UK trade deal. British action over the flawed Northern Ireland Protocol is a matter for the British govt and British people. US Senators should not be issuing diktats.

Threats to invoke Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol will harm the people of Northern Ireland. I call on 🇬🇧 to respect the protocol & protect the Good Friday Agreement. I reiterate: a US-UK trade deal is simply not possible if either the protocol or GFA is rolled back.
