Well that's all folks. 2 years working with fab colleagues & fantastic islanders and enjoying many amazing experiences on Ascension Island. It's been a blast and I have not painted the Lizard on the way out - those who know, know.
For now, I'm signing off from Ascension.

Ascension Island once again provided essential tracking for a critical space launch.

Volunteers have been helping to clear & restore Monkey Rock Cemetery, one of the oldest on the island. Containing graves dating back to the mid-1800s & is located on the slopes of Green Mountain, a few hundred meters below the Residency. 🇦🇨

It's #InternationalMountainDay & 🇦🇨has arguably one of the most unique in the world with the artificial greening that has happened on Green Mountain the past several hundred years.
With over 40 prominent volcano🌋cones there's plenty of mini mountains on this tiny 34sqm island!

In the 1840s Darwin worked with Hooker, who proposed in 1847 that the Royal Navy import tree species, a project started in 1850, which led to the creation of an artificial cloud forest on what is now Green Mountain.
