Because it is historically inaccurate. Here are the facts:
Kobe Bryant was absolutely considered the best player in the world during the mid to late 2000s.
From 2003 to 2005, it was Duncan. However, toward the end of 2005, and throughout 2006, Duncan began to physically decline as a result of a severe ankle injury and ongoing foot problems. Although still elite, Duncan would never quite be the same.
From 2006 to 2008, most considered Kobe to be the Best Player in the NBA. Yes, narratives existed as to whether he could win without Shaq, but most leaned Kobe, particularly after his 2008 MVP season.
In 2009, LeBron entered the conversation and a debate ensued between Kobe vs. LeBron until 2011.
Again, these are the facts.
