Our response to the resident doctors announcing strike action
Responding to resident doctors announcing new strike action, John O’Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said:
“Taxpayers will be livid that resident doctors are walking out for the 16th time in three years.
“After multiple inflation-busting pay rises and record NHS funding, the BMA is still demanding more despite being offered a deal that would have seen some of them earn six figures.
“The new health secretary must stand firm and not allow the NHS to be held hostage by union militancy."

Patients are waiting 21 hours in A&E on a normal day.
At the same time, fully qualified doctors are left unemployed while thousands apply for A&E/GP NHS training jobs.
This Government had a chance to fix this crisis. Instead, they removed 1,000 extra doctors training jobs.

🚨NEW: It has been revealed that almost HALF of all NHS hospital trusts are using “non-doctors” to fill doctors roles! 🇬🇧
They are using under qualified staff to fill in “rota gaps”, with the doctors union describing the move as a “potential disaster”
The advanced practitioners, AKA physician associates, offer one from a background of paramedics or nursing, however, the BMA has said bosses are going TOO FAR - pushing the staff way beyond their training ⚠️
This genuinely sounds like a disaster waiting to happen 😬

The NHS says it is short of doctors yet doctors are struggling to find work at all stages, & recently 1,000 extra speciality training jobs were pulled by Wes Streeting & Keir Starmer.
This is a workforce crisis.
