🚨The lack of evidence that CO2 has been a driver of Earth's paleoclimate is openly published in mainstream journals such as Science, but never explicitly acknowledge by the authors of the papers!
This 2023 paper presents the most comprehensive proxy-based record of atmospheric CO2 during the Cenozoic Era (past 66 My):

A large team of authors called "The Cenozoic CO2 Proxy Integration Project (CenCO2PIP) Consortium" really tried to show that CO2 was responsible for the huge transition (cooling) of Earth's climate for the past 66 My. However, their Fig. 3 (shown below) reveals a total lack of a consistent relationship between atmospheric CO2 and Global Temperature.
Note these features in Fig. 3:
- The estimated Equilibrium System Sensitivity (ESS) to CO2 (illustrated by the slopes of the thick black lines) is all over the place. One would not expect such a large variation of the effect of a physical forcing, if that forcing was real. The CO2 "radiative forcing" is model-generated, not real, but most paleo-climatologists don't know that!
- ESS reduces to ZERO during the Oligocene and Miocene period of 28.6 My, where CO2 varies by a factor of 2.5 times compared to the preindustrial level, while the Global Temperature remains virtually unchanged (see beige- and orange-colored dots).
Why do mainstream climate scientists keep fooling themselves that a minor trace gas like CO2 was controlling Earth's paleoclimate on time sales of tens of millions of years?
Isn't that ridiculous at this point!
