Important study here - many patients not home in 30 days after hip fracture so 90 days a better time point for DAH measurement. Imagine this generalises to other emergency surgical conditions in the older survival patient.

We need to understand how surgical prophylaxis influences antimicrobial resistance, and if/how we can safely reduce antibiotic administration in contemporary surgical practice to reduce antimicrobial resistance, while minimising patient level risk of infection.
