Funny how the same communities that are stripped from resources are also targeted by federal, state, and local governments as well as private firms for development of new infrastructure projects that displace residents. Can't fight displacement without calling out the shi%#

The debt ceiling doesn’t keep our national debt down, but it does threaten long-term financial harm. Watch me apply a debt ceiling to everyday life—and see why it doesn’t work.

This is a thread of public comments made 5/18/2023 by @VibrantRRHA public housing tenants, leaders, and advocates regarding the agency's 2023-2024 Annual Plan. Hopefully this will help Richmonders understand the controllable causes of the City's housing crisis.

I definitely remember crying when John Ritter died for some reason. Unfortunately that's the only name I can come up with (even though I know there are one or two that hit harrrrrd)
Which famous person, that you hadn't known personally, did you feel most grief for when they died?
People complaining how their tax dollars are "paying" for others' education while also conveniently forgetting that tax rates in the 70s-80s were ~80% and college cost something like $2k a year make me want to literally claw my eyes out. #studentloanforgiveness #CancelStudentDebt

Like, I've paid into social security for the last 18ish years (and will gladly continue to do so) despite knowing (since I started working at 14) that I would never see a dime of it. I thought y'all had degrees or some shit but apparently you skipped basic fucking math.

Literally just looked at my paystub (which, let's be honest, most of us don't usually do beyond the bottom line) and realized I'm actually paying MORE in SOCIAL SECURITY than in I'm paying in federal income taxes (which is fine and has probably always been true). Just sayin'

Did everyone just forget about overpopulation? Or did we magically solve that and no one told me? Also this is just a generally fucked up and dangerous POV (and he sounds like a certain congresswoman who shall not be named and has taken this to the extreme)

Population collapse due to low birth rates is a much bigger risk to civilization than global warming

Also also overpopulation is a HUGE contributing factor to global warming. Less people would actually be better for the planet. So keep on not makin' babies fam (if that's what you want).

A Florida appellate court just blocked a 16-year-old from getting an abortion, saying that she is not "sufficiently mature" to choose to end her pregnancy — but she apparently *is* mature enough to *have* a baby. axios.com/2022/08/16/florida…

$18/day? The actual fuck? Throw these folks to the wolves and/or the Department of Labor.
My favorite Facebook genre is parents posting unhinged nanny requirements

And your qualifying experience that is greater than or even equal to a first year teacher? And being a parent doesn't count bc raising/rearing children and educating them are VERY different things. One is instinctual/innate, the other...not so much, ESPECIALLY according to you.

This is all completely ignoring the fact that you trust the experienced teachers who are employed by people who CHOOSE to keep those teachers on and CHOOSE new hires. Now you apparently know better than teachers AND the school system. Why even send them in the first place?

The rule of law party sure is pissed about a lawfully executed search warrant

As much as I want to laugh at the far right's response to the legal execution of a search warrant against a private citizen, I really don't think people realize how not funny and actually terrifying it is. Watching the @ReutersLegal live feed last night made me feel sick.
Top 3 were atheists, Mormons, and Jews. I feel like that's really telling.

Replying to @RepMTG
Republicans before Trump: “Pay your damn taxes!” “Back the blue!” Republicans after Trump: “Defund the IRS!” “Defund the police!” THIS IS HILARIOUS!
