🚨 Patients should know who is and is not a doctor. If you agree RT to let @wesstreeting know
🚨IMPORTANT: UPDATE ON PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATES SCANDAL @TheBMA has called on Health Secretary @wesstreeting to stop dangerous substitution of doctors as 13,000 doctors add their names to letter warning of grave concern & risk to patient safety over current use of MAPs in the NHS

Following a meeting where the GMC reassured the Chesterton's that regulation would ensure there would be "no more Emily's", they found out that the GMC had no plans to regulate scope and instead supported local scope "we wonder if we were being placated, a bit hoodwinked"

Somebody knight this man already He has absolutely no need to be here fighting this battle Yet here he is, doing the right thing simply because it's the right thing to do
Dear @rcgp 11 days ago I sent your president an email. The email outlined the gravity of risk that the RCGP is accepting by having the approach it is with regards to PAs and the risk they are putting the public under. The email was to be circulated to all leadership team, trustees, council members etc. I have not had even an acknowledgment as of yet. I would appreciate a response ASAP. I am happy to release it as a public letter too should that be a better approach for yourselves?

🧵/ This is, I believe, unprecedented in the history of UK medicine. 28 eminent UK doctors have written publicly to @LaylaMoran, the new chair of @CommonsHealth, to report something nothing less than scandalous. Read their letter here (1/n) 👇 bmj.com/content/386/bmj.q198…

I worked straight through the entire pandemic on the front line and contracted Covid twice from hospital. @conservatives @RishiSunak gave me a 25% pay cut, provided me with bin liners for protection & paid me with claps instead 👏 👏 👏 Kindly get in the bin
Was your job SAVED by furlough? RISHI DID THAT. #RishiDidThat #VoteConservative #GE2024   #RishiSunak

Thread 🧵: Here are 20 ways the Conservatives have severely damaged the NHS since they came to power. This is not even an exhaustive list. Please share this widely so everyone knows what they’re voting for on 4th July. The Tories really cannot be trusted with our health.

Oh my, this is is brilliant from @RobLaurensonD4P 🚨 Strike action has cost the govt £3bn 🚨 Full pay restoration would have only cost £1.3bn 🚨 Re 35% demand - a physician’s assistant is paid 35% more than a fully qualified doctor 🤬🤬🤬

Wow, this keeps getting worse… ⚠️ The government are PAYING MORE for patients NOT to see a dr & to see SIGNIFICANTLY lower skilled & UNSAFE replacement instead?! ⚠️ The new: “Physician Associate Apprentice” 🛑 Entire course FUNDED by tax payers 🛑 Paid MORE than a doctor 4 YEARS post qualification 🛑 GP Practices PAID to recruit them 🛑 Encouraged to see patients INDEPENDENTLY (?!) The motives of this government in introducing the PA role is clear. For anyone still in doubt, you’re either being misled or wilfully blind to the truth. We URGENTLY need transparency, accountability & a STOP to this role before more patients lose their lives!
While most of the discourse around Physician Associates has focused on the 2yr PGDip/MSc, another route has slipped under the radar Physician Associate Apprenticeships Oh dear… what a can of worms… 1/n #PAproject #PAscandal

Hey consultants- enablers of this travesty to the medical profession. They are coming for your jobs too! Wise up and wake up! #savetheNHS
As a cardiac specialist, this is deeply offensive to call someone with 2 years of training a specialist- let them take MRCP and EECC exam and 5 years med school and CCT to be called specialists….

We really need to get rid of the ‘leaders’ who have completely sold out UK healthcare and patients This needs to start with: Colin and Charlie M at GMC Navina and Geeta M at NHS E WTE Sarah Clarke RCP Kamila Hawthorne RCGP Et al
And Boom! There it is. Only a few months since @gmcuk suggested this would happen. So clearly the plan all along. No consultation. No listening. @mancunianmedic I on why this is a BAD idea: bmj.com/content/384/bmj.q728
