This is super interesting! Also gorgeously presented. Not happy with some of the trends, but useful to know about them and work with them.
I went through every Hacker News "Who is Hiring?" thread since 2019. 83 months. 109,462 listings. A few things stood out 🧵

Also it's exciting that seratone.audio/ is getting very close to kickstarter and launch. The device is awesome.

Had some friends poke me about what I’m up to… busy! Just launched the new version of vegasnearme.com/ - really like how it’s starting to come together. Some more huge features and updates to it coming soon too, and excited to feature @askadamtorres new Vegas podcast.

I remember the day vividly. I downloaded and stayed up through the night exploring and buy the end of the weekend, had a big chunk of the project I was working on in PHP running in Rails and continued with Ruby from that day. Never looked back.

21 years ago today, after months of work, @dhh released Rails v0.5.0 to the world with the note: “this piece will grow in public.” He wasn’t wrong. Since then, Rails has powered countless companies, grew with the support of thousands of contributors, and has kept true to its core promise made that day: "Everything needed to build real-world applications in less lines of code than other frameworks spend setting up their XML configuration files." rubytalk.org/t/ann-rails-0-5…

Didn’t win but had great fun doing it. Everyone keeps coming up and telling me how confident I am on stage and how calming my voice is (including 2 of the judges) so may need to recalibrate my opinion on if I can do public speaking! Huge buzz from doing it.

Had an absolute blast pitching AgendaScope at Takeoff Tokyo yesterday. Got through to the semi-finals so pitching again this morning and can’t wait - know I’m gonna do it better.

I'm available for development work. I have 20 years of Rails development experience, building more apps than I can remember (wrote couple of books along the way too) - usually solo or leading a small team. A bunch of Elixir Phoenix apps in production too.

I've been thinking how to show the power of AgendaScope without a full demo. So I built QuickScope, a 2-min reality check for your next big decision. Add your idea > score it > share it > see what your team really thinks.

quickscope.agendascope.com/ No signup. No email. Just instant clarity on where everyone really stands. It's a free taste of part of what AgendaScope does. Would love your feedback and what insights it has helped you discover!

I’ve got availability for new projects and wanted to put the word out. If you or someone you know is looking for help with #Rails (my specialty for 20 years) or #Elixir Phoenix (big LiveView fan), hmu! Interested in everything from APIs, HotWire, perf op or team aug. Cheers!

Since I’m an idiot and forgot to say what AgendaScope _is_: It’s a tool to let leadership track, score, prioritise, discuss and keep track of risks and opportunities for their business. Think “jira for your leadership team” (but *much* nicer to use than jira 😆)

Last week I got some rough news that me and bunch of my coworkers were being laid off. I will be using the very generous severance to pause a bit and figure out whats next. But if you are hiring in the Elixir/Rust/Go/docs/comms space lemme know! I know some excellent candidates.
