Let women speak. When polled, the most trans-supportive subgroup in the c!s LGB population is consistently butches. They know what it's like to be misgendered, stigmatized, & disbelieved. We owe appreciation to the butches at Edinburgh Pride this year for this their great shirts

1/ Sharing my story with the NYTimes was not an easy decision. My north star goal is always liberation and a free Palestine. That led me to decide to participate in this article despite my concerns. nytimes.com/2025/06/06/magaz…

1/ Yesterday in the NYTimes, a student (mis)quoted from memory something I said in class on October 12, 2023. That quote suggested that I do not support Palestinian resistance. While I’m not disputing that student’s memory, the Times didn’t include what I actually said🧵
Reminder: Israel does NOT have the right to exist AND Palestinians have the right to: 1. Live 2. In Palestine 3. Free from settler colonial occupation & genocide 4. In the meantime, they ALSO have the right to resist their occupiers by any means possible, including w/violence

Elon Musk says that no one has died because he slashed humanitarian aid. I went to South Sudan to check if that's true. It's not. Within an hour of starting interviews, I had the names of a 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl who had died because of decisions by wealthy men in Washington. The visit that moved me the most was to a remote area that used to have no health care, where women routinely died in childbirth. Then a US-funded maternity clinic opened through @UNFPA in December, and not one woman has died since. I showed up, and people mistakenly thought I was responsible for the clinic. One new mom wanted to name her baby for me, and the village elders thanked me and hailed America's generosity. What they didn't know was that Trump/Musk had cut all funding for UNFPA and that as a result the maternity clinic will close this month, and women will once again be bleeding to death in the dust. Here's a giftlink to my report from ground level about what the shutdown of USAID means: nytimes.com/interactive/2025…

RIP Dorothy Allison. I taught with her at @Tin_House & she was full of warmth and ferocity - w/ a Janis Joplin howl to her voice. '"Fiction never exceeds the reach of the writer's courage. The best fiction comes from the place where the terror hides, the edge of our worst stuff."

Some immediate steps I believe that all trans people should take: - Get your passport. Today. It takes time to come in and this will likely be shut down under Trump. - Update every ID your state allows you to. - Make sure you have a supply of medication in case of disruption

Don't blame Muslims; or Jill stein; or Biden for dropping out; or for Kamala not going left enough. It's patriarchy. It's racism. And it's neoliberalism behind it all to pit us against each other until only the plutocrats thrive.
