Today's parallels are the "food-industrial" and "medical-industrial" complexes that promote unhealthy products and contribute significantly to chronic diseases and healthcare costs. These complexes could be defeated by regulatory measures, such as restricting marketing of harmful products and regulating food content to improve public health. But that would require action by Wes Streeting.
