Great explainer. Vote "Free DC Slate"
New: There's an unusually bitter battle brewing over the future of the DC Democrats. The race to control the Democratic State Committee will determine not only party strategy: but also a replacement for Robert White if he wins his race. Naturally, things are getting personal:

Just got 2! mailers from them (sports betting backed American Future of Dallas TX). Too much of the council race information is these dark money mailers
Speaking of, American Future (funded by major sports betting companies) is sending a ton of these citywide mailers hyping Doni Crawford/Phil Mendelson: including this very AI one at center. But they haven’t filed any financial reports so no idea how much cash they’re dumping in…

E-bikes are delivering culture change. You love to see it! 😎
Replying to @Boenau
I ride to my daughter's 20 miles each way and work 10 miles each way with anywhere from 5-15 mph winds. I wouldn't be able to do that on a non eBike

Early voting starts tomorrow!
When you vote in the DC primary, at the end of your ballot, vote for the Free DC Slate! We're a diverse group of nearly 50 Washingtonians from all eight wards, united by the belief that our local DC Democratic Party should be working as hard for DC as we do.

Maybe someone can ask both candidates: “if elected, will you end the practice of giving the Washington Post preferential treatment over media outlets that are not abandoning local coverage?”
Right about now @MayorBowser is being interviewed by The Washington Post’s executive editor at a summit… that’s closed to the press.

Interesting cross tabs from the poll... @kenyanmcduffie has spent tons of $$ on negative, untruthful ads. Hasn't worked. @Janeese4DC favorables are super high unfavorable very low. * And people know he's being untruthful. Janeese winning by a mile on "honest & trustworthy"
Great pull from Martin! You too can dig deep into our Post-Schar School D.C. poll results and crosstabs --> washingtonpost.com/tablet/20…

A new Washington Post poll has @Janeese4DC ahead of @kenyanmcduffie in the D.C. mayoral race by 11 points, and also ahead when ranked-choice voting is factored in. Respondents view her as better in affordability and education, while McDuffie is leading on public safety.

But now prices have shot up to $88/MWh and we are paying more than double what we would have. That's due to McDuffie and Cooper's work. janeesefordc.com/2026/06/our…

Our Pepco bills have skyrocketed faster than anywhere else in the country. Kenyan: it's not my fault! Also Kenyan: My dedicated volunteer just happens to be the longtime Pepco Executive I worked with to raise rates👇
This is Donna Cooper. Previously Pepco’s top lobbyist. She got him to kill an energy affordability measure in 2018. It costs DC families $300-$500 a year. Hundreds of millions for Pepco. A few mins waving a sign. Good deal for Pepco, bad deal for DC. hillrag.com/2026/06/01/chang…

Very excited to see @capitalweather striking out on their own. Subscribe to support them! Also this is a periodic reminder to support local media which are actually making a commitment to local news, like @51stnews & @CityCast_DC; looking forward to The Star (or whatever name)

There was a proposal to build this 9 years ago: @tweetelissa wanted to redirect funds from subsidizing parking in Union Market for this. @kenyanmcduffie opposed it. Elissa and Kenyan are on the ballot this month. This is indicative of their priorities. ggwash.org/view/65487/the-dc…
Jun 2
The new NoMa Metro entrance on 3rd St facing toward Union Market would genuinely save people like 3 minutes of walking, which doesn’t sound like much but it’s a 33% expansion of the 10 minute walkshed and would include a lot of the biggest and newest developments in the area

The @NiskanenCenter has an absolutely fascinating new report on policing and crime in D.C. It questions how many cops D.C. needs (and what they should be doing), and finds that the National Guard did help bring down some crime – but not in a cost-effective way.

Lmao a photo of a bike in the background will be the closest Mcduffie will come to even acknowledging the existence of non car transportation. He will be terrible on policy but at least he posted a photo of himself driving past a bike.
Thank you, Akeem, for coming out and showing your support. 21 days left and the momentum is real. Let’s go!
