Donald Trump wants Kenyan McDuffie to be DC's next mayor. Do you?
President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to "take back Washington" if Janeese Lewis George won the D.C. Mayoral race. Lewis George, a democratic socialist who is leading the race, told 7News in a statement that the threat is an "attack on democracy itself." #wjla #washingtondc #dcmayor #trump

Thank you to Mark Rodeffer and the Sierra Club for your endorsement and support! Brian Schwalb is an advocate for the precious natural spaces in DC we often take for granted, and we need fighters like him to protect them when others refuse to step up. @SierraDC

Pepco cash keeps rolling in for @kenyanmcduffie! Days ago, Pepco CFO Elizabeth Morgan Downs O’Donnell gave the legal max. McDuffie let Pepco raise utility bills hundreds of dollars a year. Now Pepco is repaying the favor. List of McDuffie Pepco payoffs ⤵️ sierraclub.org/dc/blog/2026/…

Another mailer from the sports betting industry for At-Large CM Doni Crawford, this time with AI illustrations!
Why is the sports betting industry paying for mailers in support of At-Large CM Doni Crawford? 🚩🚩🚩

There is only one mayoral candidate who is being supported by dark money: @kenyanmcduffie. Where did that $650k come from? Was it Republicans? Well-connected insiders? People who benefited from the Intralot scam? We'll never know. That's the problem with dark money.
BIG MONEY: Pro-@kenyanmcduffie independent expenditure group @PeopleForDC has raised $827k and spent $813k so far on anti-@Janeese4DC mailers and ads. Most of its funding ($650k) comes from dark money group @AUDCRESEARCH. $100k from realtors group. Also: Nats owner, developers.

Of course Kenyan McDuffie is endorsed by a "clean coal" lobbyist. McDuffie has long been on the side of dirty energy interests seeking to profit from pollution and jack up energy prices. It's only fair that they repay the favor.
Replying to @kenyanmcduffie
I know some will mock you for this because Harrison has a track record of losing elections but I'm going to mock you for it because he rose to prominence as a corporate lobbyist.

Kenyan McDuffie, who chaired the DC Council Committee on Business for nearly a decade, says it’s too hard to open a business in DC. I guess his oversight on business issues was as disastrous as his oversight of utility regulation.
Interesting: Ahead of today’s D.C. Council vote on the 2027 budget, @kenyanmcduffie is calling on @Janeese4DC to vote against a capital gains tax increase that @BrianneKNadeau floated last week. He says “the path to fiscal stability runs through growth, not… tax hikes.”

I am again asking, why doesn't McDuffie simply return the money he took from Trump and MAGA donors? He could do it in 5 minutes with an email. He should start by refunding Jeff Wall, Trump's former Solicitor General who won key cases to dismantle the CFPB and ending Roe.
This is so damning.

When @SegravesNBC4 asked in Thursday's debate, @Janeese4DC said she’d fire @dcwater head David Gadis over the sewage spill. @kenyanmcduffie said he didn’t know if he would. Gadis was fired the next day. But we already knew which candidate holds utility executives accountable.
Multiple sources tell @nbcwashington the board of @dcwater voted to separate David Gadis as CEO of the water utility. The vote was 8 in favor 3 “present” Gadis has come under fire for his handling of the massive sewage spill into Potomac River

Our Pepco bills have skyrocketed faster than anywhere else in the country. Kenyan: it's not my fault! Also Kenyan: My dedicated volunteer just happens to be the longtime Pepco Executive I worked with to raise rates👇
This is Donna Cooper. Previously Pepco’s top lobbyist. She got him to kill an energy affordability measure in 2018. It costs DC families $300-$500 a year. Hundreds of millions for Pepco. A few mins waving a sign. Good deal for Pepco, bad deal for DC. hillrag.com/2026/06/01/chang…

DC had the chance to lock in lower renewable energy rates in 2018 with the Clean Energy DC Act. As Council Committee Chair, McDuffie stripped the provision from the bill as a favor to Pepco lobbyists. Today, DC residents are paying ~$24 more a month as a result of the decision.

Your Pepco bills are hundreds of dollars higher because of Kenyan McDuffie. Pepco opposed a key energy affordability measure in the Clean Energy DC Omnibus Act of 2018, and McDuffie stripped it from the legislation. Now, DC residents are paying the price. hillrag.com/2026/06/01/chang…

Kenyan McDuffie is not telling the truth. He said in tonight's debate that he wrote DC's Renewable Portfolio Standard and 2018 clean energy law. That's a lie. He wasn't even a co-sponsor. Mary Cheh wrote the law; McDuffie undermined it. ggwash.org/view/70035/dc-gav…

Why is Kenyan McDuffie so rattled by allegations he’s in the pocket of big money interests? Perhaps because the donations—and the legislative record—show it’s true. sierraclub.org/dc/blog/2026/…
Like my primary opponent, I participate in DC’s Fair Elections program, which limits donations at 200 dollars and forbids the use of donations from corporate or traditional PACs. I chose to participate in the Fair Elections program as a reflection of my values and my belief that no individual or organization should have undue influence over my policy decisions or campaign promises. As with my primary opponent, I do not have control over which members of the community choose to contribute to my campaign, or their individual ideologies. As Mayor, the only person who will be charge of me is you: all 700,000 residents of the District of Columbia. I look forward to continuing to participate in the Fair Elections Program and working to fight and deliver for ALL of DC.

The D.C. Council hearing on the proposed bottle-bill starts shortly, with more than 200 people signed up to testify. Ahead of the hearing, @MayorBowser's administration has come out against the bill, saying it's a new obstacle for businesses already facing challenges.

Can we do RCV before the 2026 primary election? Like maybe before a potential special election?
Looking forward to RCV coming to the District soon.
