Hey @Twins - my amazing kiddo got to ask the awesome Josh Bell a question on mlbtv today. Any chance I could print a screen shot to get it signed by him? She’s a HUGE fan.

We should be chanting sell the team at every game.
The Twins won a postseason series in 2023. Since then, the fan base has been tortured. There's no denying that. A season that began with optimism is ending with the roster torn down to the studs and Correa dumped for practically nothing. Fans should be pissed.

This case was SO fun to discuss and I learned a ton.
As an intern I saw an interesting case of hyponatremia, and because it was such a great learning case it is now published in @JHospMedicine (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/shar…). Thank you @andrewolsonmd and my other co-authors who are not on X!

I think we lead with our values and ask "How can we help people be as healthy as possible?". In doing so, we should avail ourselves of every tool possible. I love great diagnostic reasoning and I think we will continue to collaborate with each other and AI. A brief 🧵...
My talks on clinical reasoning and LLMs have evolved over the past two years from: 1) A Turing Test of Clinical Reasoning 2) Towards an AI Second Opinion to 3) Towards a Medical Superintelligence If that tells you where I think we are headed (and absolutely not prepared for)

I think that we are deluding ourselves if we think (super)intelligence is our superpower as humans. Maybe in 1906... Look already how much better to a peripheral brain (UTD, pubmed, @EvidenceOpen) has made us already. We have to ask what is best done by machine...

What done by people and machines, and what is done best by people. Let's get rid of "vs" from the conversations and instead focus on outcomes (better health, more joy in practice). The future is sooooo bright. /fin

Really important work that shows a path forward. There is little debate that decision-making is improved by teamwork and this is a way to make that actually happen. We also need to start to move past case reports and use messier data sources.
Very cool paper that demonstrates the promise of multi-agent debate to improve diagnostic accuracy. Next step -- showing efficacy on a general set of cases (since you don't a priori know about the presence of errors). Congrats to the authors!

Replying to @EricTopol
A small randomized trial of generative #AI for diagnosis again (as seen in a few previous studies) shows higher performance for #AI than physicians AI. May indicate that physicians need to be trained on how to incorporate AI. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

Two minutes of perfection here. #RIPJamesEarlJones People will come, Ray. People will most definitely come.
Super Sky Point to James Earl Jones, whose baritone of gravitas elevated every film he was in. He’ll be remembered most widely for giving voice to Darth Vader but, for me, he’ll eternally be telling a troubled Iowa farmer why the people will come. #RIP

I like the imagery of the inverted pyramid instead of the traditional hierarchical structure, where I as the attending an the base of the pyramid supporting the fellow, senior, intern, and med students #JHMChat

I just want to note that Bob said "31st year at THIS VA". That means not the first one he's been at. That's inspiring. #JHMChat
#JHMChat we can make up questions, but training programs have such variety that it is difficult to compare them or the needs. I work with senior residents who know the majority of provision questions. Because I'm in my 31st year at this VA, I know the great majority of answers
