Europe needs the law to
#RestoreNature!
Today, the law should have become a reality during the
@EU_ENV Council. Instead, there was a discussion between Environment Ministers as there is no longer a majority supporting the law.
Many countries spoke up in favour of the law expressing their disappointment on not being able to find a majority and adopt the law today, and their preoccupation on the implications of this deadlock.
⚠️The EU's reputation hangs in the balance in this critical year of EU elections. Failure to make the law a reality also undermines the EU’s credibility and leadership on its international commitments to tackle the biodiversity and climate crises...
The Belgian Presidency, @EU2024BE, and
@vonderleyen must seal the deal before summer and start to
#RestoreNature now. Our future depends on it as this is our change to bring nature back to Europe and tackle the intertwined nature and climate crises.
🇩🇪, 🇮🇪, 🇫🇷, 🇪🇪, 🇸🇮, 🇪🇸, 🇨🇿, 🇩🇰, 🇵🇹, 🇱🇺, 🇱🇹, 🇭🇷, 🇨🇾 all expressed their support of the law during the meeting.
