This morning, I met with @EmilyThornberry Chair of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee, and other members of the Committee to discuss the situation inside Iran, the Islamic Republic’s repression of the Iranian people, and the urgent need to place the people of Iran at the centre of UK policy. I made clear that dealing with a regime that murdered more than 40,000 Iranians in January is not only morally wrong, but strategically misguided. Any agreement that preserves this regime or its remnants will fail. The Iranian people will not accept it. With or without international support, the people of Iran will overthrow this regime. Freedom will come to Iran.

This is, of course, a complete lie. Nobody has ever challenged Trita Parsi or his colleagues for being against war. The problem is not their opposition to war. The problem is that they support the Islamic regime by spreading and strengthening its propaganda, by echoing its narratives, and by trying to legitimize a mass-murdering regime. There are many people who oppose war. There is nothing special about Trita Parsi in that regard. What makes him and his brother stand out is their lifelong support for the Islamic regime in Iran.
