Film is more than entertainment. It is memory, identity, and a powerful tool for storytelling that connects communities across regions and generations. Through film, cultures are preserved, voices are amplified, and stories that may otherwise go unheard are given a platform to inspire, educate, and challenge society.
Initiatives like the Regional Film Competition 2026 continue to prove that film is a catalyst for growth within Uganda’s creative industry. By taking filmmaking to different regions, nurturing talent, and creating spaces for exhibition and recognition, the competition is not only building filmmakers but also shaping audiences and strengthening the entire ecosystem.
It empowers young creatives to see their stories as valuable, their voices as important, and their craft as a viable path for both expression and livelihood.

Today is April Fool’s Day, but online, some things will feel like just jokes until they’re not.
A 'harmless' post will turn into misinformation. A joke will become someone’s truth. And before you know it, perception has shifted, reputations are questioned, and narratives take on a life of their own.
On here, context is fragile, and not everything that trends is harmless. So even today, it helps to pause, question, and think twice. Because sometimes, what starts as a joke doesn’t end like one.
