6 months between a 13 hour outage in us-east-1 and the realization that AI is not the silver bullet we believed it was
More AI-generated code doesn't make your team faster. It might actually slow you down.

We had that same problem in the early days of SWE, before fancy design patterns and languages emerged. AI is still early, we haven’t figured out how to best deal with it, yet. We might never, at least not economically Lots of lessons ahead of us to learn
Thoughts and prayers.

Some thoughts: I like the simplicity of TUIs and the comfort of GUIs If you have a well-made TUI and a well-made GUI, over time the GUI is more likely to turn into garbage because of the ā€œgreat UIā€ technology Recent popularity of TUIs mainly driven by coding agents. That’s all very early, thus the form-factor that delivers simplicity had some head start

That’s the problem with subsidies every single time I had no incentive running anything other than the top OpenAI or anthropic models in copilot. Now, I wonder if a frontier model is worth 10 times the price of open weights models Will the frontier models stick past the subsidy phase? Could be a tough awakening for anthropic and OpenAI
Its the beginning of the end of subsidized AI subscriptions. GH Copilot is moving to usage-based billing, as has Claude (for business customers.) Fair to assume more will follow. I expect this change will also be a great boost for open models - cheaper, and pretty good already

Stelvio 0.9 dropped this week. Cognito support (by @bascodes) and a completely new CLI. Did a short video showing how deploy, diff and outputs work now: - everything grouped by the components - AWS details visible but out of the way

We did it! @stelviodev v0.9 is out This is a huge step: we got a better CLI that shows you a tree structure of all AWS resources instead of just a large list We’ve also covered Cognito components to add auth to your serverless Python apps! github.com/stelviodev/stelvi…
Stelvio Dev Log #89 We missed Easter release šŸ˜ž 🐰 🐣 CLI changes were more complicated than I thought (changing outputs system completely) and I also took some days off during Easter. We'll release version 0.9 soon, just making some final touches.

Had a great chat with @bascodes on his podcast diving into security in agentic workflows: from prompt injection and tool abuse to RBAC, permission gateways, and sandboxing for safe LLM agents. You can check it out here: open.spotify.com/episode/78e…

Stelvio Dev Log #88 After a lot of thinking and discussion with @bascodes, I worked on some internal changes related to CLI before we merge the PR with CLI improvements. A new Stelvio release with improved CLI and Cognito support will drop during Easter 🐰 🐣

Chatcontrol. Here we go again. Should’ve been the last vote. At least this week.
Sieht so aus, als ob meine Stimme den Ausschlag (beim entscheidenden Ƅnderungsantrag) gegen die Chatkontrolle gegeben hat… Die Fahrt nach Brüssel hat sich gelohnt… Smiley
