Lately, I’ve been seeing quite a bit of hate toward FPL managers who use models. I don't really get it...
It’s a bit like going to a math exam where everyone uses a calculator, and you're just fuming because you don’t want to or don’t know how to use one. It’s a clear advantage, but if it’s "legal," you should take advantage of it. Plus, FPL isn't just "one exam", it’s making 38 decisions over the course of a season.
I understand content creators on one hand, but not on the other. In my opinion, it doesn't look good when they present a model-based decision as if it were some exciting, deep thought process, because it wasn't; it was just two clicks. But how are they supposed to make content out of that? They’d say the move was 2 EV, and the video would be over.
This isn't going to change; it’s only going to get more common. You have to move with the times, just as people do in every other decision-based game as math and computer science become more advanced.
I understand if someone doesn't want to do this, but they just have to accept that their play won't be optimal; it’s not me saying that, it’s the numbers.
