Delighted to be included in the first issue of PRX Life! This is the latest work from Marisol Herrera-Perez along with Christian Cupo, Cole Allan, and Alicia Dagle on optogenetic interrogation of tissue fluidity!

In this #PRXLife study, the authors use optogenetics to precisely control actomyosin, a protein involved in cellular movement, clarifying its role in epithelial tissue during Drosophila embryo development. go.aps.org/3Y6f41L

ALT GIF of epithelial tissue sheets in developing Drosophila embryos. A scale bar in the corner indicates the size of 20 micrometers. At the top, a timer counts up from 0.00 minutes to 15.00 minutes. The cells appear black and outlined in white. As the GIF plays, the cells appear to flow and move cohesively as a sheet.
