The government today published outline proposals on protecting children from sexual in response to the IICSA recommendations. The actual proposed legislation is not yet available, so it's not possible to say what effect this will have - if any.

I don’t think people should throw #virginiaguiffre under the bus for agreeing to settle.
If you only support her as long as she does what you want, do you really support her at all?
We shouldn’t shame other survivors for making whatever choices they feel are best for them.

It’s #SexualViolenceAwarenessWeek
There is still no legal duty to report known or suspected child sexual abuse to a local authority in England. Except for FGM.
For all the many times people have insisted there is a legal duty, there isn’t.
Cover ups continue to happen.

Germany does not have #mandatoryreporting, or a legal duty to report suspicions or knowledge of child abuse to a local authority.
Just like England (except for FGM).
