A little story for a wet Friday night. Near my house I found a wallet in the road. When opening it I found a bank card, some cash, a library and a youth club card. And also a front door key. The person who dropped it is 14 and could be locked out so I set out to find him….1/6

To meet the challenges we face, we must increasingly develop belonging and trust and create team and organizational cultures of compassion. Humans make up teams and organizations and we must come to see ourselves as more collaborative and compassionate to shape a hopeful future .
Research into how to fix a toxic culture via @MITSloan. Lack of leadership investment is, by far, the most important obstacle to tackling toxicity. 3 areas to focus on: 1) addressing leadership behaviours 2) addressing social norms 3) redesigning work: sloanreview.mit.edu/article/…
The pandemic has had an enormous impact on health and care services, but to what extent is it to blame for the current pressures facing the #NHS?
@Quality_Watch looked at access and waiting times before and after the start of the Covid crisis. nuffieldtrust.org.uk/resourc…
The past is past; nothing can change it. But the future depends on the present; we still have the opportunity to shape it. This is not a matter of employing technology or spending more money, it's a question of developing a sense of concern for others' well-being
Thank you @HelenBevan@lizandmollie this is a must read for all struggling leaders - neuroscience shows “I feel therefore I think therefore I am” - we need to manage and talk about difficult feelings vs ignore them #coaching#compassion@pennynewm

This is excellent insight thank you and so important vs “heroes and villains” as drama triangle plays out when people under stress from workload and poor line management. Seeing burnout in a lot of coaching clients right now.

1/5 Had chance to read all the #fullerstocktake. Exciting vision for services that are locally co-ordinated and based on population health approaches. It’s brave and ambitious challenge for our services. But for me it missed one really key ingredient-locus of control @davidjbuck
Hi Penny! How wonderful you’re still behind Better Convo. Is it really that long ago? I think the @Pers_Care_Inst has a role to play here. They accredit Health Coaching training like @olliehart7 & @peakhealthcoach but it’s not mandated & embedded in core skills. We should do more
Yes we piloted a decade ago. Why has it taken so long to scale esp now with GP workloads? Sharing responsibility with patients and families is the only way to cut demand effectively and kindly. Agree 💯 @SianB23 wld love to think about this with you. Shall we chat?
I had a 70y/o patient who's become much fitter since I saw her last.
I'm always curious to ask what the trigger was.
She said it was the question:
'What do you want to do with the time you have left?'
She went home and decided 'I want to get in shape'.
Coaching not preaching
The what matters to you conversation. Shifting pathogenic model of dependency opens up a whole new world of opportunities for people. PLUS creating salutogonic approach assisting people to live happier & healthier with tools to self-navigate the blips & minor health challenges
New research: the more power people have at work, the less gratitude they're likely to feel/express. They (unconsciously) feel more entitled to favours & benefits from others based on their elevated hierarchical status. How NOT to be that senior leader: hbr.org/2022/04/research-mor…
