This may be part of a competitive war, as Reliance is partially owned by Meta — the company behind WhatsApp. Network operators are advised to reject unauthorized BGP announcements from Reliance (AS18101) to prevent route hijacks and ensure stable Internet access for their users. Such abuse of global Internet routing is alarming. I wouldn’t be surprised if Reliance/WhatsApp were also behind the recent lobbying effort to ban Telegram in India.

Because obviously a syndicate sophisticated enough to steal and distribute a national exam paper has never heard of WhatsApp, Signal, Discord, or — wild thought — a VPN. The paper leaked on Telegram. Not because of Telegram. Your house burned down, so you've banned matchboxes. Fix the leak. Not the pipe. And just a reminder: papers were being leaked long before the internet existed. Chits and whisper networks have a longer track record than your entire ministry. Whoever greenlit this deserves the Param-Jhaantt Award — India's highest honour for solving the wrong problem at full speed. 🫡
