Are we ready to have the conversation about how security checks in Namma Metro need to go?
1. Is a massive waste of time, increases friction, and causes burnout esp for short distance travel
2. Doesn't help security in any way. Do you know how much time a proper security check would take? Compare it with the time it takes to do checks in airports.
3. Are a drain on resources. Bengaluru's metro is the most expensive in the country. Why aren't we looking at ways to cut out frivolous expenses?
In the picture - the evening crowd in queue for the security check at the Swami Vivekananda Metro Station.
This metro station has just one entrance, and every evening there is a long queue with every person waiting for a good 7 to 8 minutes just to get in.
Imagine reaching here, tired, after work, having to remove your bag, spread your arms, it's a humiliation ritual that serves no purpose.
