This is absolutely insane. I've also seen news reports of people being arrested for social media posts, and the police arresting a kid after he was stabbed (and later died). What is happening in the UK!?
JUST IN: UK Government clarifies adults will still be able to use social media by verifying their identities with digital IDs, facial recognition, passports and credit cards.

It was a friendly argument, but I basically got in an argument with the kid working carts at the golf course the other day when I returned my cart. Me: {holding the trash I pulled from the cart} "Where can I put this stuff?" Worker: "Eh don't worry about it. I'll get it." Me: "What? No. I'm not going to let you clean up my trash. I can do that." Working: "Eh, it's my job." Me: "What? It's not your job to clean up my trash!" I don't normally rent/take a cart when I golf. Do people typically just leave their trash in the cart for someone else to clean out? If so, that seems absolutely bonkers to me.
Why do Japan fans clean up after games? “That’s the culture. It’s respect for everything: the players, supporters, and the stadium. We’re honored to be here, so we don’t want to make a mess and leave it.” I love Japan 🇯🇵

On to the final four of my club's annual match play tournament. This is net, and I always have to give strokes (gave 8 or 9 yesterday) - Thus this is the longest I've ever lasted in the winner's bracket. I was in a fairway bunker on #2 yesterday, with 189 to the pin. Hit a picture-perfect, towering, baby-draw 6-iron that one-hop-and-stopped at 4' from the pin. I think that demoralized my competitor (who apparently is usually good in these net competitions), as he never really got his game going after that. Anyway, putting is still on fire and this is the easiest golf has ever seemed to me.

Everyone on the planet needs to watch this. 👇 Social media has enabled the extremely strong programming of people to ideology; and at full population scale - And it's destroying us. Self recognition of this programming, and ability to deprogram, is our only hope.

Codex just told me it would "be comfortable implementing" my suggested approach to a problem. I'm not sure who Codex thinks he/she is, but I've been writing code for 35 years - and it's like, literally one year old!

A couple things I learned (RE speed control) from @rossmacleodputt and practicing them on my @RightEdgeGolf Putt Tracker has completely changed my (golf) life. The (by far) best competitive golf season of my life continued this past weekend. Tee-to-green ball striking started getting a bit shaky towards the end but my new putting skills - that I've NEVER had before - kept us competitive. I've always enjoyed the game of golf, but it's never been this fun before.

Another golf post. I've played five 18-hole rounds of golf so far this season. All "competitive" rounds (ie. tournament or match) - So these are all best efforts on the day. Golf is a funny sport.

They say "necessity is the mother of invention," and it certainly was in my case. My golf game was stuck treading water around a 6-7 index for a couple of years, and I knew my putting was a "low hanging fruit" if I could just find some time to work on it... "If there was just some device that: 1. Has a small footprint that I could take/use anywhere. 2. Takes no time to set up / start so even a free 10 minutes can = 10 minutes of putting. 3. I could set the green speed, and it would accurately show me how far each putt rolls out on that green. Then I wouldn't have to go to the course to practice and dial in my distance control." With golf tech blowing up, I was honestly surprised nothing like this existed already. So I built it. And so far it's helped lower my 6-7 index by ~50% (was as low as a 3.2 at the end of last season before a couple opening season rounds this year pulled me up a bit) Sorry for the shameless plug, but 1) It's just been really cool to actually get the results I was hoping to get when I started this journey; and 2) I know there are a ton of other golfers out there that it could help just like it helped me.

At this point, I feel like most people get this, but just in case: The climate is changing. That is an undeniable scientific fact. What IS still up for debate, and where reasonable people can disagree: 1a. Are humans materially contributing to climate change? 1b. If so, how much? 2a. Is climate change a problem? 2b. If so, is there anything we can do about it?
I’m starting to think that I’m the only right-winger on this platform who believes that climate change is a real phenomenon. Not saying it hasn’t been exaggerated in the media, but I just don’t see how you can wholesale reject it.

Oh boy - The few alarmists still remaining out there found this post. Their desperation is palpable now that their narrative has effectively crumbled.

Why is there such a strong correlation between politicians (including wannabe politicians) and an ignorance of nᵗʰ order effects of actions?

He’s right bc we tax income, not wealth. Bezos takes out a tiny salary, pays the income tax, and lives off loans borrowed against his stocks, basically tax free. They all do this and now 935 billionaires hold more wealth than 170 million Americans. It’s time to tax wealth.

I'll tell you why so many people upset about the "no hallucinated citations" ban on the arxiv: because they've all been copying citation lists from each other without checking them since the beginning of time. And why did they do this? Because half of the citations in scientific papers are politics and not to the benefit of the reader. If you don't list the right papers, your paper doesn't look 'right' and reviewers will complain that you didn't cite this-and-that other unrelated work. For what I am concerned, these are all bullshit citations that shouldn't be in the papers in the first place. They can easily be automated by "related papers" links, that are (wait for it) provided by... AI...

Accepting being a terrible putter makes no sense to me Unless you truly don’t care how you play and just like the walk and social aspect of golf. Which is fine (I guess 😆) However, most people dislike 3 putting You don’t need to accept it TAKE ACTION (it’s the only way 😃)

Yep, the front range is an absolute mess with broken trees/limbs - and the power outages they've caused - from this heavy/sticky snow. And most places never (or barely) even dropped below freezing.
This is a common sight all over town. This downed tree is in Thornton. There are a ton of power outages as well.

I agree that some form of "universal income" is in our future, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how society is really going to function at the point @elonmusk is referring to here. Let's ⏩ to the point in the future where there is a worldwide slave workforce of AI robots that literally do everything for us. We don't even have to train/improve, build and/or maintain the robots, because they train/improve, build, and maintain themselves. The only thing humans will need to do at that point is: 1) For the sake of maintaining legal structures, serve in whatever form of government(s) - exist at that point; and... 2) Manage the robot workforce (keep them from "going rogue") - And I'm not really sure how that will work either. At that point, what utility does money have? Answer: None. As long as there is enough harnessed energy (and the robots will do the work to ensure there is), there is no cost associated with anything! And if nothing costs anything, there is no reason for money to exist. Elon is referring to the transition period between ~now and the point in time that I'm describing above, and that's the period I'm struggling to understand. What makes it so tricky is that it's not like money will maintain it's utility and value as we know it, then all of a sudden go to zero at the point I previously described. There's going to be this transition where there is less and less need for human labor (physical and/or mental), but because the need for human labor is still > 0, things will still have a some cost associated with them, and thus people will still need money. So much about what we today refer to as "society" and "economy" is going to be evolving; and perhaps quite rapidly. It's going to be quite interesting, and probably frightening for a lot of people - Which brings in a whole new dynamic. What is it going to be like when such a high percentage of the population is feeling insecure (afraid) about their very next day? Insecurity is typically what causes people (and groups of people) to disregard the guardrails (laws) put in place to maintain order in society. Frankly, this rabbit hole is getting a little too dark now and I'm going to stop. I am curious of how others think this is all going to play out though. If you have any thoughts, please do offer them in the replies.
Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

The Dem and Republican parties are in a heated deathmatch race to the bottom; crushing America/Americans while the midwit politicians of those parties continue to get rich off our backs. I f**king hate these people.
Today, I'm introducing my wealth tax — and more than 50 members of Congress are joining me. It’s time for the government to start working for American families, not just the ultra-rich.
