Many energy and telecoms suppliers no longer charge exit fees. Today I asked BT how much it would cost me to leave. £475. Given we get 5mps on a good day, this seems a disproportionate amount. @BT

Not a great first day experience with @OctopusEnergy Unbeknown to me, they had switched my tariff to another one, which was twice as expensive. And they weren’t going to give me a cheaper rate overnight, charging
me 23p kWh instead of 7p. I am appalled by this. @ofgem

This pub sign in Baltimore, County Cork, commemorates a remarkable event: in June 1631 a group of Moors from Algeria landed here and captured 100 residents. They chained them together, and took them back to Africa as slaves. Curiously gratifying, given how history developed.
