Food one of the most stimulating things on earth for humans, and god forbid you regulate that. 70% of grocery stores dedicated to super-stimuli foods. Life is just about controlling novelty for yourself. Saying no to foods until after you workout or achieve something is a step in the right direction. Ideally you'd have intrinsic motivation, but that just isn't the case.
People get so tight when you start talking about earning your food. “tHaTs SuCh An UnHeAltHy MinDseT, iT sHoUldnT HavE tO bE a ReWarD” I get it, most of us are no longer cave dwelling troglodytes. But evolutionarily, rarely did we ever not have to work for our food. So yeah maybe in the 21st century its silly to think this way, but biologically, its simply better for you. We live in abundance. And as much as you would like to galivant around and pretend like you can do nothing and look good and feel good, that’s a fever dream. You must do something. Thinking this way just works.

Me? Yes but it would kinda feel incomplete without posting to the story. Most of life is made up of status seeking behavior. It’s incredibly hard to discern motivation behind something like doing a marathon. On one side the training is just pure ass and monotony - the status boost would need to be pretty immense to warrant it if the reasoning was pure status. Our culture currently has a strong social bias towards people who can do impressive physical things/have vital health (most of us are victims of this, after all look what we do on X). So yeah, it’s a strong boost in status. Most people won’t even attempt to run a marathon, let alone complete/reach their goal. On the other, the work put in to complete the result is incredibly satisfying and fulfilling on its own. So you might as well share it. An instagram story lasts a whole 24 hours and will just wither away in people’s minds in 48 hour, but the fact that you did complete a marathon has a shockingly strong hold on people. They remember it, probably because they have wanted to do it too but never could get themselves to commit.
serious question: would you still run a marathon if you couldnt post it on your story?

Obsidian has extremely low churn. ~60% of people who subscribed to Sync in 2020 still use it, and the exact same pattern repeats with every cohort. I suspect you are much more experimental than the typical person (which is ok!)

Go to your local hardware store Buy some nautical rope Cut to length Tie the ends Enter: rope flow Any athlete will benefit from doing rope flow. My spine feels like a million bucks when combining this with Jefferson curls and back bridges. Look up a few tutorials from guys like Nsima Inyang/Weck Method and you’ll be off to the races.

Most people considered Steve jobs to be a fucking nut case until he changed the world. You need to be a little bit delusional/crazy to make/do/create anything note worthy. It is inherently delusional to do something different that hasn't been done before. Most won't see it your way. Here is the thing. Delusion is synonymous with conviction. They are just from different perspectives. Delusion is only something seen in the eyes of someone else. Conviction is internal - your internal belief that something is/can be more. Delusion is other peoples judgment of your conviction. No reason to stop what you are doing just because someone thinks it won't happen. The Universe has a funny way of helping manifest your delusion into reality.

I am consistently astounded by my own dumbass self that goes against my natural tendencies. You built up habits and biological tendencies through years of practice. I stayed up super late while I was young. From the hours of 9pm to 3am I stared a screen playing video games between the ages 11-18 (I was a weapon on call of duty). Now a days I try to do what is 'optimal'. > Work first thing in the morning > Eat the frog This literally has never worked out for me consistently. I never have the proper energy and focus. And my overall output is dog shit, yet I still try it because it's 'what you should do' if you want to achieve your goals. And before you come at me and say: "Your circadian rhythm isn't dialed." My whole first hour after waking is designed around circadian biology. I use circadian-friendly lighting (incandescents after dark) and I have blue light filters on my screens. Even with these tools, it doesn't mean that I will be able to re-write 8 years of habit and biological formation by staring at the sun every morning and being dialed for even the last 6 months. It's going to take years. And I am not willing to sacrifice years of my strongest working hours (from 8pm to 12pm) because of productivity gurus say so. And I know I am not alone here. There are examples of people who operate best at night: Tim Ferriss wrote nearly every single book of his by working from the hours of 11pm to 4am. Some people just operate a little differently. And you if realize that you are like me, and you cannot for the life of you do the 'optimal' thing... well I will personally give you the pass to act as naturally as possible and stop going against your own grain. Shit happened. I spent way too many years of my life paying video games until 3 am, and that probably changed me biologically forever. But I am done fighting my own biology and letting it prevent me from doing my best work. This goes for literally everything, not just natural energy distribution throughout the day. If you aren't accepting of your own proclivities, and acting accordingly, you will only be holding yourself back from the best version of YOURSELF. KEEP GOING.

Since pretty much the start of the year I've been hiring a personal assistant, with both of us having access to the same Obsidian and the same context. That assistant wasn't a person itself though, it was AI (specifically Claude Code). And if you're willing, I'd like to build a similar personalised version for you! ••• Here's what this means... 1. We take a no-obligation intro call (link in the post below), where we talk through what you're working on at the moment and how you hope that AI integration will be able to help you 2. If you're a fit, we'll have a deeper audit call, then I'll go away and build the scaffold of an AI agent (complete with its own second brain ready for your vault, and then we go face-to-face again so I can walk you through the initialisation and set up in your own vault. 3. We coordinate async for a month following this setup, where I can provide video support to help you start off with your new agent on the right foot. Long time no see chat. It’s been a minute since I’ve been active here. Feeling revitalized. I’m still out here doing the same thing as before. Spending time in nature. Designing things (mostly emails these days for some of the biggest health brands). Training hard. Messing around with AI tools (always too many tools) and trying to read more and more. This is me out on a ruck this morning. My biggest focus as of recent has been cardio and my half marathon training. As I’m in taper (2 weeks out!), I’m training less and less. It’s mentally difficult but it allows energy to flow to other facets of life (business, relationships, etc). My current reading fix is East of Eden by Steinbeck and The Art of Focus by none other than @thedankoe. People may hate on the lad but god damn can the guy write. I’ll be posting daily for the foreseeable future. What accounts should I follow in the meantime? My personal favorite right now is @dantefofante by a mile. He’s definitely about to run a sub 3 marathon, and I can’t lie that wanna own his suitcase one day. Few understand. as always… KEEP GOING
