#EDPS participation at @privacysymp in Venice - @W_Wiewiorowski delivered a Keynote speech titled "EDPS Roadmap" outlining 3 EDPS priorities:
β Upholding EU data protection in the digital age
β Boosting EU-wide cooperation
β Strengthening global engagement
The Europeans need to work up a plan with Ukraine to present to Trump. And fast. Otherwise a US/Russia deal on Ukraine - and much else besides - is going to be done over their heads. Now isn't the time to litigate the details of fiscal easing for defence. Now is the time to act
Europe urgently needs its own plan of action concerning Ukraine and our security, or else other global players will decide about our future. Not necessarily in line with our own interest. This plan must be prepared now. Thereβs no time to lose.
βTowards a Digital Clearinghouse 2.0β - Seminar organised by #EDPS to debate about the future of digital governance and effective enforcement in the digital world. Opening remarks by @buchtan on the need of cross-regulatory cooperation to address current governance fragmentation
Key statement from @VivianeRedingEU
Says she wrote the GDPR to protect us from Big Tech & Government - not the village butcher & football team
Unfortunately "national regulators looked more for the nitty gritty than for the real problems with the big platforms"

Geert Wilders victory is what happens more frequently in times of chaos, an indirect effect of allowing Russia's war on Ukraine to drag on instead of achieving the clarity of Ukrainian victory. Populists and extremists thrive on uncertainty, making bold, simple promises.

Being a judge of the @womenprivacy
Award 2023 was such an honour and source of self-reflection. We should have more βprivacy on womenβ. Data protection and gender studies should work more and more together against power imbalance. Thanks @buchtan and Finn Myristad for sharing this responsibility with me!
If thoughts, prayers, and condemnation prevented terror attacks and dictators waging war we'd be living in a paradise. But they don't. They must actually be fought like hell, as if our civilization depends on it, because it does.
