Govt defunding/not funding physiotherapy: - triggers a cascade of consequences - eliminates a significant non pharmaceutical form of pain control - denies access to an essential form of science-based healthcare - will lead to reduced lifespans - is indefensible injustice

Unquenchable thirst for profit causes this. Housing being valued for max investment yields instead of human habitation causes this. The super rich are scapegoating immigrants, calling people lazy, & their minions parrot the same.
At 87 years old, Richmond senior Lance Evans says he spends his days at the library and his nights trying to sleep in Tim Hortons because he has nowhere else to go. His story shines a light on a growing crisis facing elderly Canadians, as rising housing costs, long waitlists, and a shortage of care options leave some seniors struggling to find even the most basic security and shelter.

What does it say about our system that any hope of adequate living as an elder depends on having a windfall in home equity? It’s a disgrace to abandon people like this while extremists continue to criminalize homelessness.
Opinion: Seniors are the largest, fastest-growing homeless population in Canada. It’s a collective shame upon our country theglobeandmail.com/opinion/…

It's sick that Vancouver will do this for tourists but wont help our own neighbours. We did it for Expo, the Olympics, and now FIFA. People died each time, and the "problem" came back because this ISNT a solution.
So it was possible to clean up Hastings Street after all? Will they be able to keep it this way now?

It's a little weird to hear your name mentioned on radio but also incredible respect and appreciation for actually giving me credit for my work - that's like a single digit category of people out there you belong to. Thank you @builtjustice

A person working full-time earning minimum wage can afford $876/month on rent at 30% of gross income. Yet the market doesn’t supply housing at that rate, & at the current rate, never will. We need all levels of govt focused on lasting solutions to this problem.
On June 1, 2026, BC's minimum wage will go up to $18.25 an hour. Increases help workers keep up with the cost of everyday essentials and are automatically linked with the rate of inflation. Learn more: gov.bc.ca/MinimumWage

The CMHC average rent for a 1 bedroom in Vancouver is $1805/mo. That means a full time minimum wage worker would need to pay 61% of their pre-tax income to afford one.

B.C.’s minimum wage just increased today. 💵 Starting today June 1st, the minimum wage is now $18.25 an hour. About 141,000 workers in B.C. currently earn minimum wage. The increase is now tied to inflation, giving workers regular raises and businesses more time to plan.

The 30% measure has also been used by mortgage lenders. It was adopted in 1986 as a measure of affordability in the market. Of course, with rising housing costs “experts” have argued to scrap it cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c…
We have not for profit housing at 30% of income. But who pays rent at 30%? That’s not realistic in Vancouver and never has been. Fortunate to have rent controls however.

We were given a planet that grows its own food, overflowing with trees, fruit, water, medicine, and sunlight, where life itself is abundant and generous. Yet we built systems of debt, competition, division, and war instead of learning to live in balance with it.

So let me get this straight: When immigrants take jobs, it’s a national crisis. When AI takes jobs, it’s innovation. Can someone explain why we’re supposed to fear people willing to work, but celebrate technology designed to replace workers?
