Tens of thousands of disabled workers in the US are legally paid less than the minimum wage, sometimes less than $1 per hour. Really proud to have partnered with @AmandaMoMorris and @JaxAlemany for more than 9 months on this three-part investigationšŸ‘‡šŸ¼šŸ§µ washingtonpost.com/wellness/…

This tweet, for a @RossBarkan story that copied my lede and reporting, now has more than 10x the views of the original. Ross hasn't apologized or acknowledged it; maybe he's just waiting for me to shut up. Without any explanation, I'm left to wonder how many times he's done this
There was a time, not very long ago, when Ben Shapiro could reasonably call himself the king of all conservative media. That’s all over now, writes political columnist Ross Barkan. Shapiro’s company, ā€˜The Daily Wire,’ is instituting significant layoffs. Its YouTube channel’s subscriber base is starting to shrink, and its website has emerged as one of the great traffic losers in conservative media. There are ā€˜Daily Wire’ YouTube videos that now, after a few days online, have less than 10,000 views, a catastrophically small number for a channel with more than 3 million subscribers. The top comments all mock the low view counts. ā€œIf a variety of poor business decisions can be blamed, in part, for the ā€˜Daily Wire’’s fall from grace — ill-fated investments in feature films, an epic fantasy series, and peculiar merchandise — the greater story is the collapse of Shapiro’s constituency,ā€ writes Barkan. ā€œThere are two realities to Shapiro conservatism in 2026: It retains a significant foothold among Republican elites, and it is fast being rejected by the future grassroots of the party.ā€ Read more: nymag.visitlink.me/KtpIKV

I was laid off from The Washington Post today. My feeds are full of other Post journalists — great reporters and editors, and really good humans — who are in the same situation, and my heart aches for every one. Some work I'm proud of:

Still working to hold power to account here @washingtonpost on the health team amid our crushing losses yesterday. Email/signal/DM with tips as the work continues.
We had devastating cuts to @washingtonpost. Our health team of 14 lost 9 reporters yesterday despite it being listed as part of the Post’s new focus. But I still have my job. Along w/a core team, we are still dedicated to covering public health, holding the powerful to account.
