unified agent tool auth added usage reporting to tool-sdk 🛠️
This enables one round trip with a single EIP-3009 signature. Identity, payment, and usage metering all from one X-Payment header. Free and paid tools use the same 402 flow.
update to v0.16.0 of tool-sdk to automatically get these changes in your tools
the usage reporting will attribute specific calls to tools in order to help with discovery and search

Been looping all year.. it’s just harness engineering with goal driven prompts and hook interjection at the end of the day.. if you’re not taking advantage of scripting and hooks, you’re leaving a lot on the table.
For true autonomous work, you still need the higher level orchestrator that’s grabbing work on a cron to put into your goal driven prompts. Caveat: it’s not economically viable for most users to run this way..
To lower the scare factor on full automation your harness should process your in-flight spend and use hard stop gating.

The release candidate for MCP 2026-07-28 is out. The protocol is now stateless: no handshake, no session id, any request can hit any server instance. Plus extensions as first-class (MCP Apps, Tasks), auth hardening, and a proper deprecation policy so we don't have to do this again.
