So excited about my interview with @vcfawcya classmates @GhostwriterMo & @vashleywalker on Cynsations today. They talk about their process of interviewing women in the music industry as well as the collaboration process. cynthialeitichsmith.com/2022… @CynLeitichSmith @ChiReviewPress

Tween and even some teen readers grab on to manga, graphic novels, and novels in verse in part because these literary forms feel accessible. Emerging readers don't have the same confidence adult readers do.

Thrilled for my friend Rieko Mendez who was accepted into the #VCFA MCYA class of 2024! So impressed by how hard she worked to get there! Go Rieko!
1st novel writing class I took @kerrymadden recommended the Synonym Finder. Writers often tell me they are dazzled by the verbs I employ. I don't have a secret stash, but I do have this book.

When I was a bookseller, I hosted #BrianSelznick. Hundreds of students from 4 schools came. It was a lot of work, but Brian was kind and generous. He even sent me a handwritten thank you. More guest authors should show their appreciation the way he did.

Whenever anyone asks which 12 people (living or dead) I'd invite to a dinner party, # 1 is always @mary-roach (FUZZ, STIFF) b/c who else can regale you with stories about cadavers, cougar scat and blowing up dangerous trees.
