👋Hi @fordnation @MacLeodLisa! I know you’re really bummed about the loss of data from the Ontario #BasicIncome Pilot cancellation. That’s why I spoke with participants about their experiences for my MPhil @Cambridge_Uni. This gov’t might be interested in the findings? #onpoli

Chloe Halpenny’s article “We need to take care of each other, and that's what this program was helping to do: ...” concludes that the Ontario Basic Income Pilot allowed women to create space to practice resistance and imagine different disability futures: cjds.uwaterloo.ca/index.php/…

Our op-ed on #BillC22 was published today! Check it out 👇 Canada’s disability benefit is a step forward, but we still need a guaranteed basic income “In a post-CERB era, why is the federal government so committed to legislated poverty?” #cdnpoli #UBI hilltimes.com/story/2023/06/…

Thrilled ( still a bit shocked) to finally share that I've been named a 2022 Vanier Scholar.🎉🎓 I started my PhD at @queensu this September with the amazing @ElainePower6. I am humbled, *very* lucky, hugely indebted to so many family members, friends, teachers, mentors.

I’m voting for @cmckenney on Monday. 🗳 My politics are underpinned by hope, optimism, a belief that a more just joyful future is possible. I want a leader with a vision for a better city, the skills and experience to make this a reality. Catherine has this, in spades.

As a resident, this campaign couldn’t have been more frustrating. We saw one frontrunner mount a campaign premised on politics of opposition, criticizing “divisiveness” while relying on ideological geographic divisions to garner support. And then there was Catherine.

Ottawa, how we vote on Monday says so much about us as a city: the experience we value, the candidates we trust, the issues we deem urgent. I so, so hope to wake up Tuesday proud of the direction we’ve chosen for our city, the leader we’ve entrusted to get us there. 💜

I've been thinking about the Ottawa mayoral candidate who is hosting an invitation-only event for $1,200 per person. $1,200 makes me think about a lot of things: #Ottawa 🧵

New research by the University of Calgary highlights how low-income Canadians are hit hardest by today's high inflation. Provincial governments must increase social benefits to keep up with inflation rates or watch homelessness increase. Read more here: loom.ly/iQGP1wk

Interesting that cities in Texas and Alberta have made some of the biggest moves on ending #homelessness. -25,000 people housed in Houston (👏 @SylvesterTurner). -14,411 in Edmonton (per @HomewardTrust). Now is NOT the time to give up on #HousingFirst. nytimes.com/2022/06/26/podca…
