Only in a year where #GiselePélicot holds 50 men who raped her to account does a rapist President get named Person of the Year (for the second time). The message is clear: misogyny rewards power, while survivors like Gisele fight to ensure #ShameMustChangeSides.

Thank you to the many thousands of people across the whole of the NHS & social care who helped deliver the care during the pandemic. Has been a strange and difficult day. But felt it was important to give witness to some small part of the enormity of the challenge we all faced.

Tim Farron, "The unpleasantness about this debate is only matched by the lack of proper information" #BBCQT "85% of refugees settle in the country next to where they come from" "The French take 3x more refugees than we do" "The Germans take 4x more refugees than we do" "If you put us back in the European Union, we are 19th in the league table when it comes to the number of refugees we take per capita" "Do we need deterrents? Yes. The best deterrents is competence. If we assess people when they arrive - and they are not illegal immigrants - they are people seeking asylum.. From Sudan.. Afghanistan.. Iran.. Syria.. 90% turn out to be genuine refugees" "If we have a competent government, and we haven't had one, let's see about this one.. And you assess them quickly.. And return the ones that are not refugees" "That is your deterrent" "Rwanda was a waste of money.. If they spent that money on case workers we could have processed these people, returned the ones that weren't refugees in a humane way, and let th eones who are genuine refugees, become British, pay their taxes, be part of our country, and we should be proud to admit them" Very well said @timfarron 👏

Resident Doctors’ pay dispute may end soon… “22%” is a sincere offer from the govt but… Bear in mind it’s still only about 7% per year And Residents will still be much less well off than they would have been in 2008 Let’s hope a deal is made! 1/2 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjqe…

If we had a public inquiry into Brexit, as well as Covid, we’d have many of the same characters, the same attitudes, and the same bullshit. A government built on hate, lies, narcissism, fear, bullying, innumeracy and tribalism is unlikely to deliver for its people. And it hasn’t.

Sleeping on the streets is NOT a lifestyle choice. We don’t have nearly enough affordable homes, rents are soaring and this is leaving people destitute and forced to sleep rough. This is a consequence of poverty. And poverty in this country has been exacerbated by policy choices
The British people are compassionate. We will always support those who are genuinely homeless. But we cannot allow our streets to be taken over by rows of tents occupied by people, many of them from abroad, living on the streets as a lifestyle choice. 1/4

A day in the absolute joke of a Tory govt we are having to put up with Gillian Keegan took on persona of a sweary, self righteous XXXX amid disgraceful RAAC crisis in schools Gavin Williamson forced to apologise to Parliament for bullying cos he didn't get an invitation to the Queen's funeral. He now has to undergo "behavioural training"... Sunak tried, and failed dismally, to counter the proof he cut back on schools rebuilding budget... Chris Pincher lost appeal against suspension from House of Commons for groping two men last year. There will be more but the news programmes can only cope with so much..... General Election very soon please
