In the messages to and from Peter Mandelson released by the health secretary Wes Streeting, the main embarrassments for Streeting are 1) his and Mandelson’s shared criticism on 28 March last year of the government’s stewardship of the economy, as per [11:33:17] Peter M: The government problems do not stem from comms [11:33:38] Wes Streeting: Quite. [11:36:06] Wes Streeting: I fear we’re in big trouble here - and I am toast at the next election. We just lost our safest ward in Redbridge (51% Muslim, Ilford S) to a Gaza independent. At this rate I don’t think we’ll hold either of the two Ilford seats. [11:39:54] Wes Streeting: There isn’t a clear answer to the question: why Labour? [11:48:44] Peter M: The government doesn’t have an economic philosophy which is then followed through in a programme of policies. [11:49:15] Wes Streeting: No growth strategy at all Neither Starmer or Reeves will be amused by Streeting’s economic critique. Many Labour MPs share it 2) Streeting’s very explicit criticism of the Israeli government, on 24 July 2025, which is held by many Labour MPs but is not the language used by Starmer [23:00:29] Wes Streeting: Israel is committing war crimes before our eyes. Their government talks the language of ethnic cleansing and I have met with our own medics out there who describe the most chilling and distressing scenes of calculated brutality against women and children. [23:12:39] Wes Streeting: This is rogue state behaviour. Let them pay the price as pariahs with sanctions applied to the state, not just a few ministers. 3) and what Fats Waller calls “kisses on the bottom” - that is the routine “Xes” as a sign off, and warm and friendly tone, between Streeting and Mandelson

The SEND system isn’t working, not for students, their families, or their teachers. It’s time to stop tinkering at the edges and start transforming our education system.

Surely Transparency now - A #PublicInquiry into Mandelson, Palantir’s NHS Contracts is the only way for @wesstreeting to give taxpayer assurance? @rogerkline @JacquiMckenzie6 @APPGBlackHealth @Marcwads @GoodLawProject

🎤 Great to join the South Central @LibDems for the final hustings of the Presidential campaign! 🔶 I was clear that our first duty as a party at this point in our country’s history is to be the last line of defence against populism and division💪

🙌🏾 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗟𝗶𝗯 𝗗𝗲𝗺 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗟𝗗𝗖𝗥𝗘) 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁! 🫱🏻🫲🏾 I’ve been clear that growing our party by reaching more diverse communities - and bolstering support for underrepresented folks within our party - is a top priority for me. That’s why I’m so chuffed that LDCRE are backing me. 🚀 That means meeting underrepresented communities where they are, expanding our candidate mentoring programmes for folks from underrepresented groups, ensuring dedicated approval days for potential candidates from underrepresented groups, relentlessly fundraising for candidate bursaries (e.g. the Stellar programme that I benefited from) and more. 🙏🏾 While I’m proud to be the party’s first Black MP elected as a Lib Dem - and the first Black Lib Dem councillor in my hometown too - I’ll work damn hard to make sure I’m not the last. That commitment extends to other underrepresented groups too. ⭐️ I’m determined to work with the likes of LDCRE, the Racial Diversity Campaign, Lib Dem Women, the Campaign for Gender Balance, LGBT Lib Dems, the Lib Dem Disability Association and YL to drive greater diversity at all levels of our party. Only 1️⃣ 0️⃣ days left until votes close!

Using your boring taste buds as some kind of measure of national pride is a new one to me. 😂😂😂😂 These lot are so creative in just how strange they can be, I love it LOOOOOOL

I’ve never had curry or a kabab and don’t intend to. British food is the best. English breakfasts, Sunday roasts, fish and chips, pies, pasties, scones. Also, our national dish isn’t a chicken tikka masala - we only think that because a Labour MP said it decades ago to push multiculturalism.

Recall meeting @LordJohnMann when he attended private meetings @DCMS with UK’s 1st (former) Jewish Ambassador to Israel on #OnlineHarmsBill. I ended up in racism ridden #HO of @pritipatel on #Windrush -& Now we are both NHS talking #EDI @wesstreeting @Voa1234 @JolyonMaugham
The NHS should be safe for all. I’ve been shocked by NHS staff who seem to think that racism against Jewish people is acceptable - encouraged by a complacent and indifferent regulatory system. Enough. John Mann will lead a short, sharp review to deal with racism in our ranks.

As Annual event draws to a close - wonderful @ApnaNhs as always standing on ambition & setting out practical action for change. Hearing from @ppvernon giving a vision for transformation rooted in evidence, yet navigating a route that acknowledges so many people are disheartened.
