ZHRC condemns CAB3 public hearings as a violation of human rights Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission chairperson, Jessie Majome has condemned public hearings on Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill of 2026 conducted by the Parliament of Zimbabwe from March 30 to April 4, 2026 as exclusionary and therefore a serious violation of human rights. She made startling revelations that in Mhondoro, the Commission which observed the process is aware of men who manned and vetted people at entrances to the venue while holding whips. She said that people were physically attacked, threatened, harassed, intimidated, denied chances to contribute and venues were too small and large numbers of people could not access them and therefore get an opportunity to air their views. The hearings violated people’s rights in various areas including the right to freedom of expression, freedom of conscience, right to human dignity, personal security and equality and non-discrimination. She concluded by saying that the constitutional amendment process must align with obligations under international and regional human rights law that include the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Vapedza Amai. I 💯 endorse this message. Let it go viral so that varakashi and other mipurwas can learn a lesson. We have intelligent people in the country. Her explanation is just simple and straight forward.

The proposed constitutional amendments will take away the right to vote from the citizens and give it to MPs. This means that citizens cannot protest or remove a president when they're not happy with him.

🔹Advocate @BitiTendai breaks down the process of making amendments to the Constitution. However, I would like to take us back to November 2017, when the same constitution was mutilated to accommodate a coup d'état. This was softened by manipulation of the masses, sanitised by Parliament, and the judiciary. The recent trial of constitutional mutilation was #MalabaGate. The clause in the constitution stating that Justice Luke Malaba should not benefit from the outcome was manipulated, and all the judges who opposed this ruling were purged. ED was testing his “ED2030 nonsense.” He succeeded in keeping Malaba, and the outcry lasted less than a week. Here we are! Give me a reason why he won’t have his way with ED2030.
