5/ The principle remains simple: eligibility for election can only be taken away by a clear constitutional or statutory provision. Since no law has been shown to prohibit a beaded-crown chief from contesting elections, and given that Senator Alli remains several steps away...

4/ Senator Sharafadeen Alli, as Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland, is also not next in line to the Olubadan throne. The Ibadan traditional system follows a well-defined hierarchy, with several chiefs ahead of him in the Balogun line before he could ever become Olubadan.

3/The experience of the current Olubadan is instructive. In 2024, he withdrew lawsuit against the Council & accepted the beaded crown introduced under the amended law preserving his place in the Olubadan succession line & facilitating the enthronement of the late Oba Olakulehin

2/ The Oyo State chieftaincy amendments focused on regulating traditional titles and succession. If the intention was to bar every beaded-crown chief from partisan politics, the law would have stated so clearly. No such provision has been publicly identified.

Is #BSA ELIGIBLE TO CONTEST ? The debate about Senator Sharafadeen Alli's eligibility should be based on facts and law. Neither the Nigerian Constitution nor the Oyo State Chiefs Law expressly states that a beaded-crown wearer is automatically disqualified from contesting.

In the coming days, Ekiti and Osun States will hold elections. I urge INEC, security agencies, and all parties to ensure these polls are peaceful and credible. Democracy fails when citizens doubt the process. To our National Assembly, Judiciary, the Press, and Civil Society: you are the guardrails of our republic. Criticise me, disagree with me, but never stop believing in Nigeria.

Fellow Nigerians Today, we celebrate democracy and the enduring Nigerian spirit. For 27 unbroken years, since May 29, 1999, Nigerians have chosen their leaders through the ballot, witnessed peaceful transitions of power, and resolved disagreements in courtrooms and legislative chambers—not through violence. We have experienced the longest stretch of civilian rule in our history. Our democracy is not perfect, but it is ours, and we must continue to defend and strengthen it.

The Oyo APC Guber primaries was won and lost since Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election last year. At that time, majority of stakeholders preferred Umar Faruq Arisekola, but Wale Murphy eventually emerged as the party’s candidate and later lost the election. That was where the cracks began to show and the political equations for the governorship race started to change. The same Umar Faruq Arisekola is now the candidate of the party for 2027 election.
When Oyo APC gubernatorial primaries is over, i have one or two to say. We must all learn, especially for future reference. Be there.

Politicians should copy the style of @akinalabi so that you will not lose direct primaries again. 2: don’t stay in Abuja for months ooooo. 3: go home to brief your constituents. 4: let your legislative office be functioning. 5: Complements your LGa chairman, Gov and police commissioner.
