Eh oui, la linguistique (la phonétique en l’occurrence) c’est pas des impressions au doigt (ou à l’oreille) mouillée. Comme dans bien d’autres sciences expérimentales, on dispose d’instruments de mesure qui permettent d’objectiver les données. En l’occurrence, le logiciel Praat.

On constate bien sur ce spectrogramme que la fricative /ʃ/ suit la plosive /t/. Si vous voulez vérifier, une réponse de @ParlercommeJ au tweet de @Laelia_Ve contient le mot "acculturé" isolé que vous pourrez analysez vous-même dans Praat.

Not quite sure I'd go that far but it's...actually true that Tolkien had a particular fascination, even an obsession, with Old Mercian and the medieval linguistic history of the Midlands. Mercian is the dialect of Old English he used as a proxy for the language of the Rohirrim in LOTR, for example.

I actually think there is a place for prescriptivism in linguistics. The issue is that almost all linguistic prescriptions are based on vibes or icks or more problematic stuff rather than any proper research showing the consequences of different types of language use

Pour son anniversaire, Gremlin a eu le jeu de société Qui Est-Ce ? Tant qu’il ne connaît pas le sexe du personnage de son adversaire, il pose ses questions en traduisant le “they” épicène (« Est-ce qu’ils ont les cheveux blancs ? ») et je trouve ça génial.
