ferc.gov/news-events/events/… I both attended and spoke as a panelist at the FERC Technical Conference held on September 10 and 11th on Interconnection Efficiencies. A couple of takeaways:

2.Tracking is key: to understanding where the problems lie in the interconnection process where the process is a working and ultimately getting to the root of the problem.

4.The convening and engagement of a diverse group of stakeholders for the last two days speaks to the broad consensus of the severity of the problem and the commitment to finding a solution.

1.The stakes are high: affordability and reliability require we solve the interconnection queue backlog.

3.Uncertainty in time and costs create uncertainty and financial risk for the interconnection customer which is directly correlated with upward costs on customers and decreased reliability. Cost and reliability risks are ultimately bourne by ratepayers.

State regulators defend FERC transmission planning rule. “Order No. 1920 does not take away any existing authority of states,” they said. “This rule … will not force some states to pay for the public policy choices of other states.” utilitydive.com/news/ferc-tr…

Utilities are increasingly turning to energy storage as a solution to meet energy demands. At #ACPRecharge24, ACP’s @ckzalewski, @PUCOregon Commissioner Letha Tawney & @AEPnews and #ACPBoardMember Greg Hall explored the potential of integrating energy storage resources into future portfolios (from both the regulatory perspective and the utility perspective) and storage’s role in the Oregon energy mix.
