I’m taking the next few months to finish several major translation projects that have been in progress for some time: Pareus, On Ecclesiastical and Civil Power: Theologico-Political Propositions Althusius, Politica (unabridged) Zanchi, On the Incarnation Along with several others. Lord willing, much will be finished soon. But until then, I’ll send material to @BerithPress to share with you during my long absence. Peace!

Here's something that changed my life: stop asking 'what should I do?' and start asking 'what am I pretending not to know?' You usually already know. The question isn't what to do. It's what you're actively ignoring because the answer is inconvenient.

I lived in this place for ten years (yes it still exists) except Christ was preached and I miss it every day.
β€œIf Satan took over Philadelphia, all the bars would be closed. Pornography banished. Pristine streets would be filled with tidy pedestrians who smiled at each other. There would be no swearing. The children would say, yes sir and no ma'am, and the churches would be full every Sunday where Christ is not preached.” - Michael Allen Watch the full message here: youtu.be/Gj0GDetIQ2I

Good words.
Young men, Whenever you meet an old fool, remember that he was once a young fool. And whenever you meet a wise old man, you are meeting someone who confronted his foolishness years, perhaps decades, before. So look into the mirror of Scripture. See where you are foolish and confront it today. The years pass more easily than you think. If you will not deal with your folly now, time will only harden it. But if you face it honestly and repent of it, the years can turn a foolish young man into a wise old one.

Let me say this again: we have a large movement of β€œChristians” online who never talk about the gospel but only law, not doctrine per se but only application to the civil realm, detest pastors as a class, and are not members of local congregations. They will lead you astray.

If you're not a member of a church because of the weaknesses of pastors and people, you're not a Christian; you're trusting your self-righteousness to save you from hell.

Say what you will about the Gospel-centered movement, but at least I always knew I was going to hear the Gospel.

The original audience of Hebrews was tempted to leave Christ because following Him was costly. We’re tempted to drift for the same reasons: approval, ease, relationships, career, or cultural respectability. Don’t trade an unshakable kingdom for temporary comfort.

One sobering reality from the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus is that hell is likely filled with people who didn't think they would end up there.

One can reject/question PWC and highlight its negative implications without being an ideologue, an edge-lord on all things Hitler and Nazi aesthetics, or losing oneself in anti-American sentiment indistinguishable from leftist Hollywood. But sadly a lot of guys can't handle that.

You can call it a Jesus juke if you want but the things that get professing Christians most exercised on their podcasts and social media platforms have almost nothing to do with Jesus anymore.

Satisfy us in the morning with your faithful love so that we may shout with joy and be glad all our days. Make us rejoice for as many days as you have humbled us, for as many years as we have seen adversity. Ps 90.14-15 csb
