A 15th-century fortress, Blackness Castle sits upon the south shore of the Firth of Forth with spectacular views across the water. At the port that once served the burgh of Linlithgow during medieval times, the castle went on to become a royal castle, a state prison, and an ammunition depot, in the later 19th century.
The castle became a visitor attraction after the First World War, with visitors from across the world also recognising the castle as a prominent feature in the TV series 'Outlander'.
