Paul says @networkrail gets huge benefit from thermographic monitoring of their assets (eg track heaters on the left). Using #drones makes it possible to do this speedily and safely. #UAVSHOW

#UAVSHOW these are the firms @networkrail used via framework agreements - they are able to fly within 50m of rail assets. If you need to do this, talk to them or to Paul’s team to see if permission can be granted.

The other application for #drones by @networkrail is incident response. For example landslides, when conditions allow. An aerial aspect is much better than on the ground #UAVSHOW

Much of the @networkrail environment is hazardous - electrical plant, trains etc. #drones are becoming more popular for localised #monitoring work (long distant work is by helicopter) #UAVSHOW

Q from a drone operator- what do you consider safe margins? You clearly operate higher distances than 50m. Paul advises operators - talk to us. I’d rather know that a drone is operating near one of our drones. Soon we will be beyond visual line of sight #UAVSHOW
