Congress is trying to integrate Israeli military tech into US systems so deeply that no future election can undo it. The term is election-proofing—making the relationship permanent regardless of how voters feel. @RyanMcMaken @ConnorOKeeffe @ThoBishop (It's Power & Market, Ryan)

The problem isn't a lack of money, it's a shortage of fertilizer. This "support" will just raise prices even more.
Trump says of farmers "I am looking at doing a form of help because of fertilizer"

Three days after publishing this pro Section 224 op-ed, the Washington Post STILL has not disclosed that the author is heavily invested in Israeli defense startups.
The Washington Post published an opinion piece defending Section 224 and US integration of Israeli military tech without disclosing that the author is the founder of 1948 Ventures, a venture capital firm that invests in Israeli defense startups

Trump basically needs to find a way to send Iran their frozen assets that looks different enough from Obama "giving them cash" so he can get a memorandum of understanding that opens the Strait, which he'll talk about as if it's an actual, finalized, long-term peace deal.

One day political scientists will write a "Rationalist Explanations of the Iran War" study but living through it we understand that's not really a relevant framework.

Trump is trapped in a genuinely difficult situation as he tries to reach a deal with Iran. But it is a crisis of his own making. Also, the establishment figures now condemning him should not be allowed to pretend they had nothing to do with it.

This makes me think Trump is backing down and accepting Iran's latest terms for an MOU. Based on his past behavior, when Trump is about to escalate, he tends to stay quiet or make vaguely deescalatory comments. On the other hand, when he's about to give in, he'll put out some grandiose, attention-grabbing threat, so he can then pretend like it was the other side who rolled over out of fear. I think, and hope, that that is what he's doing here.

Thank goodness. Clean reauthorization of the unconstitutional FISA 702 program failed in the House. I’ll post the roll call when it’s available.

They take your money, use it to wage a war you never asked for and didn't want, and then call you a coward for not being okay with them using even more of your money to escalate it.
Trump on Fox News: "My preference has always been to take Kharg Island. I don't know that America has the stomach for it, to be honest."

The establishment figures now condemning the war should not be allowed to pretend they had nothing to do with it. The weapons industry, hawkish think tanks, intelligence agencies, and the establishment press all spent years pushing for exactly this outcome. @ConnorOKeeffe soundcloud.com/misesmedia/tr…

"self-defense" it's just so absurd
U.S. Central Command forces began launching additional self-defense strikes today at 5:15 p.m. ET against multiple targets in Iran at the Commander in Chief’s direction. The strikes are in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression.

What a horrible messaging strategy. Traffic through the Strait is still at a trickle compared to normal levels, and Trump is basically saying that he owns that.
The UNITED STATES of AMERICA CONTROLS the Strait of Hormuz — NOT Iran.

Lets say what Trump said is true and roughly 2 million barrels per day made it through in the last 40 days. That is roughly 10% of normal traffic at the cost of an Apache helicopter, several drones, and god only knows how many billions a month it costs to sustain the blockade
US President Trump says since last month more than 100 million barrels of oil have left the Persian Gulf in a “secret” US mission to get tankers out via the Strait of Hormuz. If true, and counting 40 days (all May and first 9 days of June) that would equate to ~2.5m b/d.

I explain why the notion that Karmelo Anthony had a right to "self defense" against Austin Metcalf is nonsensical. The person in control of any space - the owner or anyone acting with authority of the owner - has an absolute right to exclude anyone and to use force in doing so.
