In my second interview with the president, Mr Trump said removing America from the alliance was now âbeyond reconsiderationâ.
Singling out the UK, the US president rebuked Sir Keir Starmer for refusing to get involved in the American-Israeli war against Iran, suggesting Britain's navy was not up to the task.
âYou donât even have a navy. Youâre too old and had aircraft carriers that didn't work,â he said, referring to the state of Britainâs fleet of warships.Â

The US president is expected to press the Prime Minister and other European leaders on the matter after violent unrest in Belfast drew international attention.
Washingtonâs goals for the summit includes âworking with G7 partners to strengthen responses to illegal immigration and drug smuggling,â White House sources said.
European diplomats fear that Mr Trump will use the unrest caused by the alleged attempted beheading of a man in Northern Ireland to demand that Europe do more.

It's hard to see how Iran could accept this deal without major incentives. The US does not want to be seen underwriting the regime or handing Tehran cash up front for an agreement. Now we learn the workaround â The UAE is expected to unlock or transfer billions to Iran, including payments worth up to $20bn. A neat solution for Trump and Iran gets its sweetener, without Washington being seen to hand over the cash.

Starmer is facing an uncomfortable confrontation when he arrives at the G7 next week.
He needs to persuade Trump, who he has not seen face-to-face since their dramatic falling-out, to back Europeâs plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and throw his weight behind Ukraine.
All while Washington remains unconvinced he is serious about defence spending.
Tough sell.

Mere days after the attempted beheading of a Northern Irish man in Belfast, @Telegraph has followed several asylum seekers making the backdoor journey from Dublin to Belfast.
One we found had flown from Germany to Dublin Airport, before boarding the Translink X1 bus service to Belfast, the same route believed to have been used by Hadi Alodid, the Sudanese man charged with attempted murder.
All without a single check.

đ¨EXCLUSIVE: The White House is considering a plan to buy the Chagos Islands from Mauritius, potentially sinking Sir Keir Starmerâs plan to cede sovereignty of the territory.
US officials have drawn up a proposal to bypass Britainâs preferred arrangement and make its own deal to take control of Diego Garcia, @Telegraph understands.
It is among several options drafted by Donald Trumpâs administration in a paper aimed at providing alternatives to the PMâs plan.
While purchasing the islands is not the leading solution for the White House, the idea has been raised directly with Scott Bessent, who has brought the matter to the presidentâs attention, sources said.
